  • What happened to rock music?

    What the hell happened?

It makes me angry, all these trendy azzholes ruined it.

PapaRoach, Godsmack, NickelBack, dont get me wrong they have a few good songs, but they seriously are ruining what rock was back in the early to mid 90's

Listen to Tool's first albums, Marilyn Manson's first albums and antichrist superstar, the first 4 Korn albums, Metallica, Coal Chamber...

Man, I miss Manson's old group so much, they were awsome. And Maynard was kicking azz with Tool, Korn was great before MTV ruined them, Metallica before they got old.

Who will replace these great bands?

Perhaps no one... The record companies lately have not been brining in good sounds. Look at these people they sign... Many of them have no talent whatsoever, their bands suck, they have to remaster their voice in the studio. It's so terrible, and the general public likes this crap. :(

Why are record companies spending so much money on no talent garbage like jessica simpson and her sister. These two b*tches will never be popular for their talents. Same goes for Brittney Spears, CHRISTINA AGUILERA kicks Brittney Spear's azz in any singing. Listen to Christinas voice, its very strong, and brittney spears sounds like a strangled goat, thats why they have her doing duets with madonna, because brittney's billion something dollar contract is a mistake and we pay for it everytime we buy a CD for 20.99 at the local music shop. :(

No more Shock Rockers? No more music that puts you into a daze like drug? No more metallica? :(

So really who will replace them? Lets hope Papa Roach or 3 days grace doesnt. :(

I still like Papa Roach, 3days grace is ok.. but i totally agree with you. i find myself popping in cd's when im driving around that are like 7 yrs old...like old Tool,Metallica, Korn, hell even some Limp Bizkit (even tho Bizkit is a bunch of tools), Manson, old Slipknot, old Foo Fighters, old Incubus, Breaking Benjamin in my perspective is the best band out right now by far (seen them 2 times) , if you like rock and havnt heard both of their albums, THEY F*ING ROCK!!!! Get their We Are Not Aone CD and go STRAIGHT to Believe (#10) IT IS FREAKIN AWESOME!!!

Depends what you like, the 70's were a time of their own, a great time, the 70's probably equal to you what 80's to mid 90's are to me.

But if you look at whats happening to the music industry, its falling... they are signing artists who really have terrible talent and all looks.

Does he look like a rocker? Well he cant sing but lets make him into a rocker.

MTV is a huge blame for hurting the music world because they make the world of MTV seem like everyone is pretty and clean and neat and has no faults. MTV no longer plays the great shows of anime and beavis and butthead... it's all rap crap and how much trend can you fall into.

Although MTV2 seems to kind of fall into what MTV used be back in the 80's and early 90's.

From what I hear MTV and MTV2 are completly seperate as far as who produces and develops the ideas.

I'v heard rumors that the group that works with MTV are homosexual, which is why MTV promotes alot of gay ads, gay artists, and they even want to start a gay channel.

But in the end I think its a combination of record companies signing weak artists and MTV setting a trendy tone of what they want you to be.

I love Korn but they've went down hill after Follow The Leader. What happend to good stuff like Shoots and Ladders and A.D.I.D.A.S.? Fieldy's bass playing never fails to impress me though. The only song I can play on bass and sound a little like him is Word Up...

You just dont know where to find the good stuff. Anyone who's actually into music rather than radio rock knows that there are plenty of great rock bands around and their numbers are growing. Check out the swedish and finnish scene for REAL good rock. There's also a bunch of American bands coming out with the same style. So if you want good rock, check out:

              -In Flames
              -Thrice
              -Soilwork
              -Atreyu
              -Avenged Sevenfold
              -Underoath

              Just to get started.

BirdOfPrey, I know what you mean... Some of the music coming out just sickens me. I've actually turned away from rock due to this and more into punk and alternative(My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Linkin Park, etc).

You're saying exactly what I'm sure your parents said about Marylin Manson, Korn and Metallica when they came out. Thier parents said the same thing about Zeppelin, The Who and The Beatles came out wondering where Elvis went.

Musical tastes and styles change with generations. You can either change with it and like the new stuff, or live in the past and listen to the stuff you've liked since you were young.

For the record, I'm not that fond of newer rock either.

They are the greatest band the world has ever seen. It really sucks that someone that had as much singing/ songwriting talent as Jim Morrison dies of heart failure at 27, and a bunch of no-talent crybaby a$$ clowns like metallica live forever. It's such an injustice.
