Don't worry James, they're just mad the "gay neon" would own their vehicles... at a lower price to boot... lol

How does the Ion run low 15s and the neon run high 13s? Don't they have about the same horsepower? BTW, my Car & Driver has the Neon in the 14s...

        That is weird.

The complaint about the ion was a HUGE rpm drop from 1st to 2nd gear.

They also felt the car needed an extra 500-700 rpm's

As for the SRT4, I've seen magazines test them from mid 13's to low 14's

03's had low 14's due to no LSD

Hey, at the end of the day, our cars are still V6's.

I have respect for a car like that.

                    BUT..

Speaking to my father about the cars, he made a good point. Dodge made little turbo pocket rockets in the 80's too (don't even know what they are called). When you look around town, you see a great deal of old 80's Hondas, Subarus, Chevy's, etc, but I don't believe I have seen too many old Turbo Mitsus or Dodges running around town. Could be a coincidence, but it may be a warning that the longevity of the car may not be too great.

^^ The early DSM's were crap, that is why.

The neons will always look, sound, and drive like neons. No matter how fast or what kind of engine they have, no matter what price and warranty they come with, still the car that had the "cute" little advertising "Hi." slogan upon its release. Doesn't really matter how "fast" they are anyways; I'll take my 15 second Camaro over a 14 second Neon anyday.

The joke will be on all the SRT4 owners when their cars are worth $3000 in 4 years, just like all the other neons.

First of all, news flash: high 13's/low 14's is not fast. The only people you'd be beating are factory slugs. Yes, I realize this includes V6 F-Bodies, but V6 F-Bodies were never designed to be ultra-fast--V8 F-Bodies were. And good luck trying to take down an LS1.

Second, news flash: even if you do manage to hang with a decently-fast car, you still look like a sixteen year old who's contemplating coming out of the closet doing it.

                        Neon "badass"???

                        Get real...

                              Neon expresso, ha...I like that.

I just had one rev at me the other day, in the rain nonetheless. Shows what types of winners these vehicles are attracting... :: sigh ::

while I acknowedge they can be fast little buggers, not only are you owning a neon, but also throwing yourself into the 2F&2F demographic.... its like having to put the checkmark in the 'old' category on surveys, only worse.
