    Sedition :

crime against the state. Though sedition may have the same ultimate effect as treason, it is generally limited to the offense of organizing or encouraging opposition to government in a manner (such as in speech or writing) that falls short of the more dangerous offenses constituting treason.

United States, Statutes at Large, Washington, D.C., 1918, Vol. XL, pp 553 ff.
A portion of the amendment to Section 3 of the Espionage Act of June 15, 1917.

It's saying that, when the U.S. declares war, (such as Iraq), then any opposition to the fact, or anyone who is against it, will be fined up to no more than $10,000 and/or 20 yrs. This line, "or . . . shall willfully utter, print, write, or publish any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the form of government of the United States" talks about all the anti-war groups and liberals. Freedom of speech is not included in all the cases listed. But everyone has to remember, this was written a LONG time ago. Times have changed, and so has society. So...most likely none of what is mentioned has any effect, which is why we're able to protest the war and whatnot.

^true, i wish there was a person in congress that had the only job of going through all the old useless laws and sumitting them to the congress to be removed. that would kind of clean out some things.

That law listed above is unconstitutional.
Also, there was no declaration of War on Iraq or on Afghanistan.

What ever happened to the War Powers Act?... or did Congress give the President permission to invade Iraq?
