  • Ipod?

Well I am seriously thinking about getting one now, at first I did not think I would use it but the more I think about it, the more I think I will use one. I think I am going to get the 4gb mini because I can't see using anymore songs, I have more but I get in moods where I want to listen to certain ones. What are your guys' opinions on the ipods?

Now I was wondering what everyone else thinks about them. I was told and shopped around and everyone says that they are the best and no other brand can hold as many songs as they do. Second, is Apple going to come out with a new one that would make the other ipods drop in price, because I absolutely hate when I buy somehting and a month later it is cheaper.

Just flipping through a dell magazine I believe they make one with 5 gb and 20 gb, and also supports WMA files while IPOD doesn't.

I didn't research it any becaue they are still expensive jsut bringing it up.

The newest iPod to come out is the iPod Shuffle which is about $99 or $149, depending on the model you get. The $99 one 256MB of space, which holds around 140+ songs or so. The $149 one is 512MB of space and holds double the space of the other one.
If you want to go all out or have a huge music collection, get the 20gig iPod. That outha hold you for a while. You can also try going to iPod Lounge and research a bit.

I got a Dell Digital Jukebog (like 15G drive) and LOVE IT! Although it is a bit heavier than an Ipod mini, it plays alot more formats, and I don't have to use that crppy Itunes software!!!

Check our Ebay and Dell's site to fid one that might serve you and your purpose, they tend to be alot cheaper than Ipod (since you pay for that name).

Although I don't like iTunes, I have to bring up the fact that it automatically converts unprotected WMA files to MP3 for you while tranfering them to your iPod.

iTunes isn't the only software you have to use to transfer your music.

Don't limit yourself to only part of your music collection. Get a 20 or 40GB, as you can use it for a light, compact external harddrive. Also, transfering music isn't as quick as I'd like it to be. When trying to transfer 8GB of music, my iPod's battery usually dies before its done. So having to sit down and wait to transfer the music your "in the mood for" would probably be a pain. Just my $0.02

I bought my girlfriend a Palm Zire 31 for Christmas. It plays MP3s, etc, off a SD card using a special Palm RealOne player. $150 for a PDA + MP3 player w/ built-in speaker and headphone jack is a great deal, but a 1GB SD card costs about as much as the whole PDA. Luckily, my parents bought her a digital camera and 128MB SD card, which holds about 1 CD's worth of music.

I bought a 4th gen 20gb ipod and i absolutely love it!!! Ya iPods are a little bit more expensive then some other mp3 players, but no one can beat apple. I have heard many great things about the mini and i think you would love it. Also as stated above iTunes DOES convert wma files automatically, and its very easy to use. As for a new iPod coming out, dont worry, there wont be another for a good amount of time. Also something to consider is that you can also use iPods as portable hard drives, thats one of the other reasons i got a 20gig instead of a mini! But i say go for it and you wont regret it!

                    Ok, let's do the mathmatics:
                    1GB Sandisk = $150 (oddly enough it's $199 directly from Sandisk... hmmm...)
                    20GB iPod = $300 = $15 per GB

No, I think my 20GB iPod was a better deal.

</font>[/QUOTE]$150 after rebate. But it also has a voice recorder and FM radio.

and per GB it might not be as good of a deal as the 20GB ipod. but compaired to the 1GM ipod (which is also $150) you get more for the price w/ the sandisk player

plus it smaller and alittle easier to carry in your pocket than the ipod

I think all of those AAA batteries you'll go through will add up.

Your Sandisk isn't much smaller than an iPod; an inch shorter and less wide. The iPod also doubles as a PDA, including games.

I'v been thinking about getting one and hooking it up to my radio in my car and fabricating some kind of holder for it. And then I"ll have a nice lil removable portable mp3 player that can play in my car radio.
