In light of our cell phone conversation, I have another question about lifestyle in general.

How do you all do the dishes? I was raised that I must always rinse off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher as soon as I am done eating. My mom would get really mad if I just left them in the sink.

NOw that I live with roomates, they all insist on leaving dirty dishes in the sink and letting the foodstuff on them rot. When we finally have no dishes to eat off of, someone breaks down and washes all of the rotten food off of the dishes and puts them in the dishwasher. It almost seems like a Kansas tradition, My roomates do it, my GF and her family does it, my friends do it. Having rotten food and crap in my sink makes me mad. It is really gross.

Do you guys wash the dishes after you eat, or do you let them pile up?

I'm married and our house has a dishwasher.

Worst case scenereo is I rince my plate and put it in the DW... occasionally I'll help load the cooking dishes in, but other than that I'm dish free :D

I let them pile up on the side of the sink for a day or two. Then I cram as much as i can into the diswashwer. Take them out and see crusty stuff on 1/4 of them so put them through the wash a couple more times

Rinse and wash as needed, or in the dishwasher after each meal. WTF -- yuck.

My wife and I usually do the dishes every week night. I was taught to rinse my plates off and then put them in the dishwasher, or rinse them and leave them in the sink or next to it when we didn't have a dishwasher. On weekends we usually let them sit until Sunday, when the previous two days dishes get done. The reason being is that we aren't home until late on the weekends, and the dishes consist of glasses and maybe some bowls on the weekends.

Malice - I was raised the same way. When you're done, rinse the big **** off, run garbage disposal and put it in the dishwasher and run if necessary.

Also - if the dishes are clean and you're the first to open it, your *** empties it and then puts your dirty dishes in.

When I was in college, the dishes used to stay in the sink til they started growing stuff and we had to bleach them.
We finally got smart and started to buy paper plates at Wal-Mart, like 100 for a couple of bucks. Then we only broke out the real dishes for when we were trying to impress a girl. :D

Yeah, I am pretty big on paper plates right now. I have been with my GF for 2 years, so I don't even try to impress her anymore with dishes.

All I want is for my roomates to rinse off the big stuff, just like fredless said.

I find myself eating out all the time, because I don't feel like sharing my microwave burritos and easy mac with the flies that live in the sink. Oh well, I am graduating in 3 weeks, and moving out of this place.
