• Should I buy a 88 Z28 Camaro?

Well, iam thinking on buying a 88 Z28 Camaro for a Drag project,it already has the 350 and a 5 speed. This guy I know will sell it to me for 2000 canadian. What iam planning on doing is camming it and supercharging it.I will still have my Firebird for a daily driver. So should I buy it? Iam planning on running 11's when iam done.

If it's in good condition, I think i'd seriously look into it, an IROC can be a great canvas for an "artist", lol.

for $2000, i'd say do it, if u have the room to store it, for sure, i love the look of 3rd gens, so if it looks good/good interior, definantley.. all the rest doesnt matter, as u'll be re-doing the drivetrain

Good platform for more than 11s.

Go for it. I miss my 88.

Jsut to warn you 5-speed was never put behind a 350 on 3rd gens. Its a swapped car, the tranny might hold up but the reaosn it never was behind a 350 is because it could not handle the torque.

Other then that 3rd gens are cool...

for some reason out of the blue my girlfreind kind of wants a 2nd or 3rd gen firebird we coudl play with together. Don't care about speed in it though

I would do it. I'm more of a 3rd gen fan than 4th. Though I think the 4th gen is rubbing on me now.

I would take out the engine and do a 383 on it with a strong bottom end. SC and cam would be a killer.

But Eric is right. 3rd gen had a bad rep for their tranny. That's why they are not that popular on track. But there are tranny that you could buy now to deal with that.

            Have you visited www.thirdgen.org

Damn - you got to it before I did. :D Yeah, the 350TPI NEVER had a 5spd behind it in the 3rd gens. Could only get it behind a V6 and a 305 (TPI or TBI) ..... The only good thing about the trannies in 3rd gens is the automatics - the 700R4 - is an awesome tranny to build up...

How do you go through a 502? Dont you mean THROW?

Besides, you can do way more to it than a 502. Hell, do a 572 swap, swap out for some internals for a lower compression and slap a mean *** blower on the top of that *****!
