They wont let me until xmas this year because I went to Belize and wandered out of the "tourist area" - which is to say I went to see Mayan ruins through a guided tour.

My girlfriend got on their permanent block list because she got vaccine and it came up on their tests... even though a second test proved the first one was a false positive, they wont let her give blood. It's a shame, she has O- and loves to give blood.

I have given blood for years. Red Cross use to call my parents house all of the time because she was AB- and I was O+.

I gave blood for 3 years. Then they put those damned mad cow questions on the test "Have you ever lived in the United Kingdom for more than 6 months"... yah I did a total of 7 years, but it ended over 13 years ago.

The bloodbanks suck anyway. They charge the hospitals for the donated blood. Better to donate to Red Cross or directly to a hospital.

I donate any time I can. I can't now though cuz I got my belly button pierced a few months ago and my tongue back in October. Life Source won't stop calling my house ... at least once a month ... "Can you come in and donate?" Holy crap! I'm gonna be outta blood!! :) I have also decided that I am going to donate bone marrow. Kinda scary, but I want to do it.

I used to give blood all the time as well. I remember once giving blood during lunch at work (Red Cross Bus) and then going out to dinner with my wife and having a beer with dinner. That's the only time I ever got tipsy off one beer. Talk about a cheap drunk.

I always had a sort of fear of donating blood. Not of needles, ive peirced both my nipples and actually kinda enjoy getting shots, its just a creepy thing, giving my blood away. Its important... I might need it myself. I dunno. Anyway, I hadnt even ever had blood taken for testing that I can remember till the end of last year when I opened a life insurance policy. I was actually terrified when the nurse came to do it.... NOO... its my blood. Now Im fine with it...ready to donate.... kinda feel bad now that I specifically avoided all those blood drives in college.

I wish I could but I can't. :(

My body goes into shock anytime I receive a needle. Its actually embarassing, I have to explain to the nurse and she laughs and says "you're a big boy, I'm sure you'll be fine". Then about 20 seconds after the shot is over my vision goes gray, my ears ring, I can't hear or see and have to lie down. I'm still fully conscious and talk saying "yes, I'm awake, I just can't see or hear, please let me lie down". Half an hour later it goes away.

I tried to give blood once but my body's shock reaction was so bad I almost died. :(

I hope I never take a bullet, I'll probably die of shock right on the spot. Real noble, eh? Oh well, its the body chemistry God gave me...

needles should be a foul word on this site

When I was a little kid I fell into a pile of lemon tree branches my dad was trimming, the thorns were about 2" long.
A thorn went completely into my knee and for some reason, they needed to use a 50 foot long needle to inject some crap in my knee to dissolve the thorn or something.
I havn't liked needles much after that.

I can't, im a giant pansy... Id probably pass out. Its weird, because I have no troubles at all, if its someone else's blood. For example, I watched my friend cut his fingers off in my motorcycle chain, and spurt blood all over my bike, and that didnt bother me. Now, say I get a paper cut that bleeds, I gotta sit down before I hit the floor. Lol... Ill sit there and conciously say to myself how retarded I am and how it shouldnt bother me one bit, but my body just does its own thing, kinda like stefan's.
