  • Having problems with Dealership

Ok so I thought I bought my car almost 2 months ago. Got preapproved and everything they slapped on a temp tag, and I was off the lot. I included my sales tax/tag in the loan. So when I have like 4 or 5 days left on my temp and still haven't gotten the check for tax/tags yet I call them.

They say they are so glad I called them back they have been trying to get ahold of me. (i did get new phone/new number) Apparently the loan company will only finance the deal once they can prove my address. (license has old address) So they want me to fax a copy of a phone bill to them, I fax it in. Guy says thanks, and says he'll get everything processed through ASAP. And he will send me a new temp tag.

Will the tag runs out 7-19, it's been almost 2 months since I "bought" my rex. And they still haven't taken care of everything. Now I have another payment due on the loan they were supposed to be paying off.

    I'm calling them tomorrow.

I've got 44,000 miles on it now. Bought it with 35,000. If they haven't gotten this done yet, can I just give the car back. They still have my jeep I traded in.

You tell us, you signed the contract that specifies all that. Sorry for the crude answer, but it's the truth.

I signed everything was completed. I thought.

        **update**
Anyways I call them today. And they said the lender/bank now needs to verify full coverage insurance. I had geico, but switched to progressive once I bought the WRX. Progressive was much cheaper. Anyways the lady from the lender/bank said ok, she could verify it with progressive. And thats all they needed, along with proof of residency (phone bill to show home address) said dealership has it.

Well few hours later, (i'm asleep) and I get a voicemail from dealership saying they need, proof of residency again, if I could refax it over.

I'm pissed now. It's just they are so incompetent.

Thats why we used OUR bank to finance it... those buy-quick-we'll-handle-it-all dealerships are for the birds...

The stealership is probably doing the same thing to you they did with me when I bought the matrix.

They're pulling a bait and switch. They said one thing to get you to buy from then, then all the sudden, they call you and tell you they can't get the great loan they said they could and get offered a jacked up interest rate. The stealership makes money on interest.

They offered me a better interest rate then my preapproved loan, like 6% or something, so I bought the car. They came back a month later with a "problem" with the loan, and they could only finance 15k at 16%. The thing is, the contract I signed said the sale was final, so they ended up having to knock off like $1k the final price so I could pay with my preapproved loan.

If they come back with a super high interest rate, read your contract carefully. If it says the sale is final, play hardball because the ball is in your court.
