• Grandparents were accidentally sold a police package car

A while back, my grandparents purchased a new Impala...right off the showroom floor; paid cash. They have had it quite a while, and while in the shop for an oil change, the dealership called with some interesting information. It turns out, the car they were sold, was in fact an Impala with the police package... I had driven it before, and i always had the feeling that there was something odd about it. It handled wayyy too well to be just some regular old Impala...but i didnt think much of it. Turns out, my suspicion was correct They were given the option to give it back and grab a brand new non-police package Impala, or keep it. Obviously...

    .....they kept it

Just one of those weird things that happen...

          passenger side donuts..lol thats funny.
I believe i would've kept it as well. I really like the Impala's taillights. When the new SS Impala comes out it'll have a V-8 with 303hp(same as SS Monte Carlo and Grand Prix).. but still FWD

I dont get the cops using FWD impalas, I'm pretty sure a civic can outrun a 17 second cop impala...

17 second Impala huh? Go drive one.. More like 16s or 15s =P Not MUCH slower than a stock 3800 V6 auto F-Body

You sure they weren't running the 3400? Anyways, I have personally driven two Impala's with the police package over the last few years in the course of my duties as Security Forces. A Civic will NOT outrun one. I highly doubt a Civic can outhandle it either. Let's just say during a few exercises the limits of the car's handling were thoroughly tested. ;)

I'd like to see an F-Body outhandle a police package Impala. LOL.

Uh, you know the impalas have the same motor as in a v6 fbody. My friend in a grand prix GT used to run high 15's low 16's and that was with a heavy *** stereo, which proably is as much as all the police equipment.

Im a police officer and the impalas are "ok" they've got decent pickup but remember it has the lights, inside cage, radios, computer and we have the GPS tracker all this stuff adds weight and the car still can go pretty good. Im a do or die GM guy but my PD switched to the Impalas they should have stuck with the Crown vick. RWD is much better for pursuit vehicles and the V8 has a little more pickup. The inside has alot more room. Just my 2 cents from experiance...

I dont go off of maganize numbers 1000% all the time, it just gives a good idea of where the car should be.

From what I've heard, most cops prefer the vic over the impalas.
