^^^^How true it is. I'm not taking Spanish throughout highschool. Why should I have to know it? As far as I'm concerned, if somebody comes into America and tries to speak spanish to me, I'm not going to give them the time of day. Now if I were to go to a spanish speaking country, i'd learn it, but I never plan on going to mexico, spain, etc.

Wow, we got some patriots in here. It's something like 25-30% of Americans don't speak English. Why would you not want to learn another language? Are you so nieve to think that English is the master language? There is no national language of the United States. English is just the most widely used language in America, which is slowly declining by the way. I hate to break it to you, but English isn't even the most widely spoken language in the world either.

Let's say you own a business and you're looking for investors to help you get off the ground. A man walks in with his checkbook in his hand but doesn't speak a word of English. Would you just get up and walk away then? Or let's say you own your own body shop. Would you tell them to leave because you can't understand them?

I hate to see it when you get into a situation with a some Mexicans or any other Spanish speaking people.

this makes me think of my conservative friends who think that minute men thing on the border is a good idea. :rolleyes: they don't know english, it's annoying it happens to me all the time. get over it. 98% of the people you deal with do know the language. i personally think it would be cool to know spanish and be able to know what they are saying a little. I am learning german and i went to germany over the summer, it was cool to be able to say stuff and understand their responses. "Konnte ich die Schlussel für Zimmer 233 haben bitte?" :D

I speak english..... can read/ write and speak french... currently learning german..... and french is kinda similar to spanish in some aspects so I can, at times, wing it.

I used to know a bit of russian too

Pinche puta, hablo espanol bueno mas o menos. solomente necisito uno mas trimestre para escuela.

I know enough spanish to get by as a cop, which is actually the reason i'm learning it. I know its very useful in today's society, but that doesnt mean i dont think people who are living in the united states should learn english, it may not be the "national" language, but it is what the vast majority speak.

The majority should not have to conform to accept the minority, the minority should adapt to be accepted by the majority.
