F-body Values: opinions desired

With all the things that are going on in my life lately, and the fact that things are going to change here in a few months, I have been thinking about selling the TA, and getting a pickup.

I was looking at KBB, and I really depressed myself, and thought that I’d post here to see what you guys think…

I have a 2ooo A4 TA with:
“T” Bar roof;
Corsa Catback;
Silver overlays;
Vette Rims;
FTRA;
Whisper Lid;
18o T Stat;
Interior is in great shape, all the leather is in great condition;

And just shy of 73k on the odo…

Do you guys think that I'm high, or is 15 too much to think that I can get out of it?

Dunno man... Lately I've been having thoughts of dumping my Z for a newer Caddy for shear practicality & comfort sake, but i just cant bring myself to do it.

As I get older, I'm starting to see the need for practicality trumping the need for fun. Plus, I get PLENTY of fun in my big azz truck [img]smile.gif[/img]

It'd be tough to get $15k out of that car, hell, I'd be lucky to get what I owe on my Z28 - fbodies suck for value retention

I have seen 98-99 with 40-50k for like $13k-14k

but that is FL, just as a point of reference, for some reason 2k+ seem to jump big in price.

looks like autotrader cars are going for around 17 to 19 (some higher) so sounds pretty reasonable

I think you'll probably get 12~13k, of course soomeone will bytch about it being "hi milage".

Yea, I had thought of that, hense the reason that I think that I need to do something sooner than later...
The thing is, that the TA has NEVER let me down EVAR. It's been a grat car, & they have showen to go into high milage figures without hassle if taken care of, which this has been....

+, I have the funds to do it now, and if I dont, the SSEiGT will get some SERIOUS upgrades!

15k does seem a bit high cause of the milage. Ill gladly take that whisper lid off your hands. No point in leaving it on the car since mods don't add much value. Hit me up at GreatSave9@yahoo.com if interested in selling. My '98z28 could use it [img]smile.gif[/img]

I picked up my '98z28 with 33k miles for $12k. RARE to find in my area actually, I was looking all summer on AutoTrader and this was one of the best finds I think. Got it from a 72 year old guy who kept it in his garage. Very very minor blemsh's up front under bumper, look like he scrapped something. My bro picked up his '98 T/A in '02 for $15k with only 15000 miles on it! Its loaded cept for M6 and WS6 package. Garage kept, near mint condition, it was some old guy's car too. Now has 18k miles! My bro drives way too much LOL. I've put 3k miles on my car in 5 months VS his 3 years LOL.

Well check AutoTrader, LS1s do get good cash. I didn't see if it was a M6 or A4. Go for $15k but don't expect it. Someone will obviously low ball ya to like $14k. You do have some light mods, people do like exhaust and are they z06 rims? But also people may not want a car that looks to be modded, or once was.

I just saw on Camaroz28.com some guy is selling his '99 t/a for $13700 w/42k miles.

It depends on the area you live in also. NJ/PA is pretty expensive for these cars. Good luck selling.


Sitting here bored at work, i did area code 90210 within 75miles under $18k. Some dealerships are obviously going to rip people off and jack the price. Others seem to be good deals.

Wish ya could of told people that 6 month ago when I was looking for a LS1. I've seen people up their price on them in my area. LT1s you could get dirt cheap with low miles, then '02-03 hits and they add acouple grand cause they're 'out of production'

We just bought a '98 Trans Am with 60,000 on the clock for $11800.00 and that price seemed high to me!

I've been thinking about not having a fun car when I get older also my friend! :D

If you're not selling to a kid or on a board like this, I would *not* mention anything about the mods, with the exception of the wheels. Maybe even remove things.

When I was looking for a car, I was specifically looking for an unmodified car. Right or wrong, most adults would equate mods with increased thrashing [by the previous owner] and possible unreliability.

BTW, I think $15k is too high. It's the mileage.

^^^ What he said. Definately lose the mods. I would only buy stock myself. But seriously reconsider selling it.... I don't think I would be able to live with myself if I sold something like that.

first, like others said, if your going to sell it, return it to stock. i tell this to everyone, almost nobody wants a touched=hotrodded car. second, i think if she hasnt ever given you problems, thats definatly something to hold onto. third, you know what you need from your car to support your life. if the truck is what you need and want. get it, but if the TA is working for you, then i would keep it, pay it off, thn buy the truck cause usually most people kick themselves later on for selling it. by paying it off and keeping it, you have a project car and a spare car which is very important in my family cause our cars break all the time. but in the end, its what you want. not use [img]smile.gif[/img]

by the way, 15K is too high around here. i wouldnt pay that much for it so you wouldnt get even close to that here. but thats just here, california is different.

When I traded my 2000 Formula in 4 months ago, i got $12k for trade-in and I had half the miles you do, I'd say $15k is definitaly to high.

I bought my v6 convertible with 32k miles for $12.5k, At the same lot they had a maroon 00 Z28 coupe- 69k miles with chrome wheels, t-tops and aftermarket exhasut for $9,999. If i wasnt worried about relability i woulda picked that up
