  • Eek, What should I do?

So I have been thinking very seriously these past few days on how I am going to get my American Muscle fix.

I have my 3.8 98 camaro, but the 200 HP isn't really doing it for me. I was planning on saving up and buying a Z28 after summer. I can make 4-5k this summer and I figured if I sold my car for 6k I would have about 10k to play with.

My dad is paying for my insurence, and it is $200 a month. To get the Z28, it is an added $200. I would have to pay the $200 a month extra, and working 25hrs a week at $6/hr, that is pretty hard to come by.

But at any rate, My origional plan was to buy the Z28 and just pay up for the insurance. But now I started to wonder... I just put 2k in my car to tune it up and fix everything that usually goes out in F-bodys. So I am spending a 4k just to upgrade and almost $2500 a year on insurance, making a grand total of $6500 for just my first year.

With that money, I figured I could make a rocking v6, although my dad doesn't wanting my modding to go TOO far (i assume heads/cam/nos/turbo), but usually I can talk him out of that stuff. But on the other hand, the Z28 would be unmodded (My point with that is that usually modded stuff has more work and more goes wrong with it). I just want a sporty car, but fun and cool for a highschooler. I just wanted more of a muscle car out of my v6.

Anyways, any suggestions? I am stuck in a pretty big rut, and I keep changing my mind every 30 minutes... I need help, any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    98 Camaro

I'm guessing your around 18-19 years old. I thought the same way not too long ago, and I kept changing my mind here and there. I've finally come to this conclusion.

*The price V8 would cost me extra money that I could use for other things

*The insurance hike on a V8 would mean more money that I could've saved and used on something else

*The gas mileage on a V8 (especially with the way gas prices are soaring) is extra money I could spend on something else

*I'm pretty much satisfied with the direction I want to take my car in (just a cruiser with dialed in suspension)

That's just me though. After going back and forth, I've realized that the only reason I would be getting a V8 is just for showing off/impressing people. However, my car does that now too, and upgrading to a V8 (for me) would just be childish, so after weighing the pros and cons, I myself, have decided to put the extra money I would obtain to a better use.
