Sinclair owns affiliates of EVERY MAJOR NETWORK. Hence, the major networks have no control over their affiliates, and therefore a liberal media bias conspiracy is rather hard to believe.
If you are referring to Friday's "Tribute," then I understand where you are coming from. Again, I must point out that this falls under the realm of commentary, as opposed to reporting. I don't agree with the decision, and if the tribute had in fact been about the soldiers, with no efforts towards politicizing their deaths, I would have run the show. My ideal seems a little unlikely given Ted Koppel's involvement. Did you read about CNN's memo to it's staff?
No, Im referring to Sinclair forcing their affiliates to air "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal".
And unlike any of your stories, this one has actually gotten some media attention. Somethings you read on Drudge really just cant be trusted.
Basically, Im not denying that there isnt a bias in media - but its not some organized left wing media conspiracy.
Most educated conservatives and all liberals think that FNC is biased... however, most of the conservatives I know thinks that the Media has a liberal bias... then many liberals I know think that the media has a conservative bias.
What I really think exists is that all networks (except FNC) have people and stories that are biased sometimes to one side, sometimes to another - but no network (except FNC) is consistantly slanted one way or the other, Liberals pick up one biased story and run with it... Conservatives pick up a different one to run with.
The jist of the memo from ABC revolves around this quote:
We have a responsibility to hold both sides accountable to the public interest, but that doesn't mean we reflexively and artificially hold both sides "equally" accountable when the facts don't warrant that.
I agree with what Halperin has said - his opinion about how each candidate is using distortion is fully backed up with the findings of www.factcheck.org which is a nonpartisan, non profit fact checking agency.
And I dont think whether its called Sinclair or Sinclair Broadcast Group is of much significance.
