I'm usually a really happy go lucky, optimisitic realist.

But lately everything sucks, and I don't know why I'm having such problems getting out of my funk. I think mainly the reasons I'm down is I haven't had much of a social life.

My job is great, and am constantly getting praised by higher ups, and I should even break 6 figures this year. My work has been the only thing keeping me going. I'm good at it, I get respect, so it's all I do. The only negative of the job is it keeps me away from home. And while I'm a very sociable person it's hard to make any friends when you don't work/school with or have any other envolvement with anyone your age. The other guys I work with are all older family type people, no one to hang out with.

Usually I get home for a weekend every 2 weeks or so. But all I do is hang out with my girlfriend. All of my other friends have moved out of state for one reason or another. I only have 1 close friend left in my hometown (technically 2 but she is leaving in a few weeks)

I also gave up my apartment in hometown, last weekend. The GF is moving back home to work over summer to save up for grad school at Ohio State, so I figured there was no reason to keep the apartment, since I might be there one weekend out of the month. I think the realization that I have no home - literally - I live in a hotel that the company I work for pays for it. Well that adds to it a bit I think.

I think everyone has ups and downs, but I seem to have gotten stuck at the bottom somehow.

At least I have neptune (my dog) to keep me company. He loves me - probably only because he knows I'm the one who brings him his food.

Wait, I'll do it for FirebirdGT-

    See a family counselor.

No but really, I think its just life. Everyone starts a life of their own and you just have to accept that. It sucks when friends move away, when somebody you know becomes somebody you knew, but thats just how it is.

Just be glad you're bringing home a damn nice paycheck

      Really.

I'm sorry man, I can't say that I know what you're going through, but I know the feeling. Just read my post by the same topic.

Just be lucky you have a girlfriend and a job. And that you dont live with your naggy/restrictive parents. All my friends I'm graduating with seem to be talking about moving out of state too. It sucks :(

My job is like that too, no one my age. The boss has a daughter my age, but you know how that goes.

Stop... it's not over... stop listening to Dashboard Confessional and get out of your emo world.

Seriously, yeah, your life might not be exactly what you want it to be right now, but it could be a lot worse. I give it a month before you find a new place to live, work things out with your girlfriend, and find a new group of friends. Think of it this way, no matter how bad it is, it's going to stay like that unless you do something about it. So either do something, or just accept the fact it's going to get worse and don't blame anyone else when it does.

Yes, you should. NONE of the people on this board should be giving advice. Talk to a professional who can help you work through it.

It's not that I am blaming anyone else, I'm just saying they have moved away, well so have I, and it really sucks. As for finding a new place to live, I plan on staying/ living in hotel. I'm stingy I don't want to pay for a place to live if I don't want to. Say $500 a month for rent/bills x 12 mos. =6 grand. I'll keep my money, I'm stingy.

I could go out to the club and met some chick, but I have a GF, and we are doing pretty good. We've been with each other for 2 years back in feb. And I've ****** about her before but she is good to me and we rarely fight. I got/given to me a phone # of this cute little redhead this morning at the gas station, but I know she wasn't thinking of being friends. Anyways she was kinda young 19-20ish.

I don't want to see a family couselor, because this isn't a "problem" or something. Just has me bummed out.

I'm sure it will get better, i just don't see the "upside" yet.

You just proved you should talk to a counselor. You have nothing to loose, and everything to gain. Progressive companies understand this and have Employee Assistance Programs just for this reason.
