I would look at an S2000. Much sportier, better looking, powerful, and a much, MUCH better name. Honda does a purchace thing where if you graduate college, and you have a legitimate job offer that you are going to take, you show them proof and they will set you up with an S2000 and a great payment plan, even if you dont have any credit.

The S2000 is a great car, id look at that rather than the crossfire.

(I would have suggested the Crossfire SRT-6 thats coming out, but its as much as the vette anyway, and its slower.)

SRT6 = to C5, non Z06

Well, you know where I work.
The crossfire hs MANY parts of the mercedes SLK
I would never admit that mercedes has any problems on the internet ;)

Let me make one comment, I would buy an SLK or crossfire. I would not buy crap. Read into those last 2 statements and you will understand how I feel about the SLK/ crossfire

Maybe you've forgotten all about the return of the HEMI and the future SRT-8 with a 6.1 liter Hemi V8 model.

You seem to be saying that because Daimler-Chrysler is sharing components between its manufacturers that its a bad thing. Last I heard you weren't complaining about GM having the Corvette share its motor with the F-Body or the GTO being built in Australia by GM Australia--AKA: Holden.

Your comments are flawed.
Very probably!
But then, Chrysler isn't what you'd call your 'everyday' manufacturer here in the UK!, so it's fair to say that I know more about the Euro-trash than I do about American Metal.

Incidentally, with regard to the Camaro issue.

1. I have a FIREBIRD! Not a Camaro.
2. From what I heard, the current Pontiac GTO (which I am well aware shares its platform with the Holden Monaro) is to be replaced with a new model in a few years, and from my understanding this will be a new platform too - on which a future Camaro may be based.

Personally, when the Crossfire first came out, I got a little excited - until I went to an open evening at the local dealership. I was rather dissapointed. Particularly by the Engine.

By the way, there have been debates about what can be considered an 'American car' and what can't on the American Auto Club web site here in the UK, and I really don't want to get into all this again.

I was only trying to say that I didn't like the Crossfire. Sheesh!

Any car dealership and manufacturer will do that with college graduates. I've worked many dealerships and currently work for Honda -- and they all do the same thing. theres a couple small flaws with the S2000 though... they're expensive as **** to maintain, the rag top requires special cleaning gear, and if your 6' or taller you have to squeeze to fit in there.

The SRT-6 version looks a little better I think, has a wing.. and somewhere around 330hp

Why not go for the SRT-6 Jeff?

They might be kind of expensive to buy right after college though..

Z3 are those in the higher 20s?

YOu might have to look but maybe its possible to get a used older C5 for $25k But then you might have problems financing it.

My dad got this last jan for $30k, and only had 30k on it.

and I woudl trust a older vette over other older sports cars, alot were owned byt middle age and older people who baby them(like my dad ;) )

and anyway Targa > convertable

Maybe I will hold out for a more used older SRT-6 those numbers sound real fun.

And despite they have bacicly no aftermarket yet, they might have one when I am ready to buy.

Even though it has a Lysholm helical type SC,Maybe we will see a pully swap for an additional 30 horses, and a new exhuast for a couple more. Then we might be seeing some z06 competetion.

Yea, youll see Z06 competiton by waiting and modding one. But considering they arent making many of them, and resale wont drop that much for the SRT-6, how long do you plan on waiting? Sure, you will be able to keep up with a C5 Z06, but your talkin 5 or 6 years down the road, when the C6's will be going for 23-28K used.

Is it really worth it to wait that long for a boosted Chrysler?

Other viable choices:
S2000
350Z
Accord EX V6 6-speed
WRX
Used C5 vette (like your previous dream)
Used Firehawk (your other previous dream)

Antman, how can you say that Chrysler using Mercedes platforms is taking a step DOWN? Mercedes has done great things for Chrysler and is the ONLY reason that Chrysler is not in financial ruin. The mini-van saved Chrysler in the 80s, now Mercedes-Benz has saved them.

As for the Crossfire, I like it a lot. I don't know why people are giving the puke emoticon, seriously it's a good looking car. I saw one on the highway with the wing up, cool little car. Soon they're going to introduce a 300 hp model from what I hear.

Prowlers run like 15.9 i think. Cool looking, yes, but sooooooooo slow. It was like a factory ricer.
