I know someone from school that works there. He plays roller hockey there all the time. The problem is you have to be both very smart and inventive to work there.

But I bet they work 50-60 hour weeks. It's not like they go to work and play all day.

              That place is badass.

From the look of it they pamper the hell out of their employees. It obviously works.

My office building is very similar to this. We have a pool table, ping-pong tables, networked game consoles, workout room, etc. Most of it sits idle because we all work a lot. (50 - 60 hours a week is probably a good average).

Thing this is, we get paid by our ideas and what we produce. You may think we would sit around and play pool all day (I would love to), but then someone else will get the bonus. So, yeah, people think it so cool, but it's really not. More of a tease than anything. Oh, and we can put toys in our offices if we want to. Some people do.

"you have to be both very smart and inventive to work there" - damn straight. Only Masters and Ph.D.s in my bulding.

We have recently lost a bunch of people to google.

Salaries for these types of jobs are not low. ;)

Attracting top talent, like my company, google, and others try to do is very hard. So they toss in these incentives so interviewing candidates think your company is cooler than the others. If you are a Ph.D coming out of college - do you want to work with a bunch of suits or a bunch of people who play roller hockey and pool?

There is also the premise that if people are happier at work, they will stay longer and work later.

its all about turnover ratings. Retail stores and restaurants have extremely high employee turnover. You dont see any incentive to work at Wal-Mart when you compare it to a place like Google. If you work hard, you play hard too. Plus if its all about ideas and producing them... what easier way to get over a block then a friendly competition of pool? Better then sitting idle in front of a computer monitor beating your head cuz you cant think a the moment.
Viper... Google offers free services to its consumers and pays their employees really well. Plus the Air Force takes care of its people more than any other branch of military too.

Hopefully, USAF will be giving me a free ride to LSU... I should know in about a month... hopefully, my higher ACT score will make up for my 3.0...

The others have explained why this is a good idea... don't worry, corporate heads would NOT be spending money on useless stuff if it could be in their pockets instead.

I doubt many people quit there... and if they do, I'll bet they miss it...
