• Any World War II freaks on here?

I've been a huge WWII nut since freshman year of college. After I found out my grandfather served I went crazy on learning about it and all the stuff in it. As a conservative, it feeds alot of my feelings on America and how proud I am to be one. Anywho, wanted to see if anyone else on here loved to learn about it and talk about stuff related.

I was very interested in the history of the conflict as a youngster, and still am to some degree. As a Liberal, it affects how I am proud to be an American too. FDR and Truman really showed those Axis powers what was up.

yeah I always love watching the history channel when they talk about WW2, and the only FPS games I like playing are Call of duty and Metal of honor. I find it very interesting.

I am one of those guys big time. Its my secret obsession. Neither of my grandpa's were in it. One of my grandpa's got drafted but got out of it with a bad eye. My girlfriend's grandpa was stationed in England for the entire war. My grandpa's brother was in the air force. I heard he flew a thunderbolt but i dont know if it was true. Another of his brothers was in the infantry in europe. Dont know what division. Over the summer I read read band of brothers (ambrose), dday (also ambrose), and The Simple Sounds of Freedom. I also just bought a few more books to dive into. I have watched band of brothers about 4 times all the way through. I have a huge collection of other WWII movies both old and new. I cant get enough of the WWII games either. COD and BF 1942 are way too addictive. And yes, im addicted to the history channel. My dad has a footlocker filled with WWII memoribilia including a German knife, Nazi helmet, and dummy grenade, and canteen. I admit I first was interested in it cause i thought it was "cool" but the only thing Ive learned is that I'm sure as hell glad that I wasnt one of those kids who had to do what they did, and i sure do respect anyone who had to do it.

oh yeah, and if youre not interested, check out Band of Brothers anyway. Its one hell of a movie/series.

I find WWII interesting... before I was 15 and got interested in cars I was into planes a bit... I really was digging the P-38 Lighting

My grandfather was a paratrooper in the battle of the buldge. He nearly lost his legs to frostbite having to spend days in a 3 foot deep trench.

Same story here. I loved the planes. I went to more air shows than I have car shows.

                      Coolest plane ever:

I like watching anything that has to do with WWII. Movies, the history and discovery channel. I also like to collect old stuff from the war and shoot the rifles and gun that they used. I have a german k98 rifle, trying to add more to my collection. I also play Battlefield 1942 and Call of Duty you should check them out if you like video games. I respect all people that have served in any wars, never would want to be in one myself just like learning about them.

My father fought in the Pacific in World War II. He has many harrowing recollections from the time as well as many tales of friendship and bravery.

Some of my uncles fought in Europe as well.

We have it quite easy today as a result of our parents and grandparents bravery and sacrifice.

A classic novel from that time is Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener. Excellent reading; it is the basis for the play "South Pacific."
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

If you like planes, try Il2 Forgotten Battles with the Aces Expansion Pack. Then the soon to be released Pacific Fighters.
