Well as i posted before my grand prix got wrecked a bit ago, now the kbb retail on it to start is $9,975, I have reciepts i copied and sent to them for paint that came to $967.85 i did recently, new tires that came to $667.98, Custom Graphics that retailed $332.76, clear corners that were $69.76, tint that was $202.57, and new struts and lowering springs that came to $558.46. that all comes to $12704.62. Well i get a call tonight from them saying the will settle with me minus my $500 deduct for $7500. I laughed and told them to keep looking for the guy who hit me or cut me a check for $12k.

Nobody uses KBB, they use the NADA guide. NADA assumes excellent condition. Just because you spent new money on it doesn't mean you get reimbursed. You will be reimbursed for the NADA "fair market value" of your car, not a penny more.

If I totalled my Firebird and said "I spent $4000 on a supercharger plus this and that on an engine blah blah blah" they'd laugh and hand me a check for whatever the NADA guide says.

Read your policy... its in there.

wow, the nada value is $9300, yep your right that $7500 they offered is fine and dandy g force, plus my policy says "If vehicle is in a accident resulting in non fixable damage the owner on the policy will be given a determined market value and a percentage of any work done within 30 days prior to the resulting accident which must have a copy of the orginal reciept to be shown at any time"

Yep thats why you shouldn't wreck your car that has been pretty heavily modded. Insurance companies dont care about performace. All they see is a dollar sign when they insure you.

You can always call and get additional coverage for all the extra equipment you put on your car. But like anything, your gonna have to pay for it.
