  • Does anyone else weve been getting trouble maker members lately?

has anyone else noticed we've be getting alot of floaters lately? they just come in on random conversations and start stuff, or make rediculous comments.

yeah, weither they are banned members returning under another name, or just new morons, they've been noticed. I do what I can to spot their posts in the lounge, but if anyone has problems w/ any member (in the lounge, outside of the lounge all i can do is email other mods/admins) email me and let me know.

Please dont let these problem members draw you into arguements or anything b/c then you both look bad.

Don't you block that specific IP address if your going to Ban a member? That way they cannot access the site unless they are using a router or another Pc?

no, from what i understand its the email addy thats blocked, so its quite easy for a banned member to return.

take me for instance, a while before i was a moderator i was given a 3 day suspension for an off colored comment that was ment to be a joke, but taken the wrong way. well about week 3 of my 3 day suspension ( )i created OSUguy (member # 6332) to use while i was suspended, i worked things out w/ stefan and this name was eventually unlocked. all it takes is a different email address than the one that was suspended.

i'd like to see IP addys blocked instead, but i'm not sure about all the technical stuff w/ the site, that may be too hard to do.

only admins can ban/suspend people though, so steve or firebirdGT would know more about exactly how they are blocked

IPs can be changed just as easily as email addresses. There is no perfect way to ban someone.

Eh, as with any board... trouble makers come and go.

With the moderators and admin's here I think things stay under control 99% of the time.
