• Deposit is down!!

So I got done with work a bit early today, and cruising through town, driving by car lot. AAhhhaaa.... that WRX wasn't there last week. So I put a deposit on it.

They are holding it till I bring in the firebird to trade in on it this upcoming monday. They want $20400, for it. I know I can get it cheaper (haven't started talking down price yet) but it is exactly the car I want. I know they won't give me jack for the firebird, so I may tell them to just park it on their lot and sell it, like a consignment deal. (I have no where to park an extra car)

What do you think an acceptable trade in value for a 96 firebird would be? Aftermarket headunit, XM-unit, catback exhaust, T/A rear bumper. It has 158,000 miles on it???? But is in really good shape for mileage/year.

KBB says:
trade in: $1720.00
retail: $4645.00

I don't have to include it in the deal for the wrx, should I try to see if they'll sell it on consignment? Or even sell locally?

Or just take the 2g's??

i agree, i'd try to sell it yourself if you dont need the 2k right away for the wrx, maybe get 3-4K if you sell it to a 3rd party

i want to hear more about this WRX though. I really like those cars, what year, color, options, milage, comeone man

2003 WRX, "rally blue" or whatever they call it.
It has:
2.0 liter turbo charged engine - 227hp
all-wheel drive of coarse
36,xxx miles
5-speed
keyless entry/alarm
6disc changer in dash.
power windows, locks, mirrors, everything
cruise - like I'll be using that, hahaha
MOMO steering wheel - stock option
the big rally fog lamps that i love so much
sweet STI shift knob - not sti though, those are way to much on insurance

so basically everything except, leather and a sunroof. I can do without leather, my dog would tear it up, but I'd like to have a sunroof, oh well

What yall think?

Oh, I test drove it for like 45 mintues and sales rep didn't..I repeat DIDN'T come along with me come along with me :D So I'm blowing through gears, this car is fast. My first impresion was **** this car is fast. So after I drove it around longer I got the feel for it. Well let's just say the little twisty roads are very fun.
2nd gear isn't over until like 65ish..6000rpm redline. And it is glued to the road, I did things in that car that would have spun the firebird out for sure, and I know I wasn't even close to the cars limits. God I love all-wheel drive.

Mom has a 03 5 speed WRX.

I deleted the air silencer and put in some sheet metal to avoid engine heat ;) You can DEF here the blow off valve much louder now :D

Tranny/ shifter is a bit notchy

AWD rain/ snow burn outs are fun.

6,000 rpm dumps on dry ground..... are... DAYYYYUM! I did that to a poor local mustang GT... needless to say, I got him off the line by MANY car lengths!

So I went by the dealership today to get my sunglasses I left in the wrx. I tried to talk them into letting me drive it around untill the paperwork was finalized, but they said that if anything would happen, thier insurance wouldn't cover it. Well I tried, A for effort.

Here is something else I was thinking today...
Recently I bought a 2000 jeep wrangler for $5500, books for $7900. Supposedly my girlfriend is going to buy it off of me, soon (sometime this summer). So I'm "not allowed" to sell it (yeah, I'm whipped). But I was thinking if I let her drive the jeep this weekend, I think she is too short to be able to work the top. She may end up not wanting the jeep.

So I'm going to have her do everything on the jeep, this weekend. (putting top up/down) Tell her how much of a nusance it is, how bad in gas it is, etc.

That way I'll talk her into agreeing that I can sell/trade the jeep off.

So let's say trade in jeep - $7500
trade in firebird - $2000 (maybe more)

and the wrx asking price is only $20,000

So I could pick up the wrx for only $10500 and thats before I start talking down the price of the wrx.

The funny thing is I bought the firebird for $3650 and I've put about 30,000 miles on it since I bought it. Trade it off for even 2 grand it only cost me 1650.00 for 30,000miles, plus I made .405cents per mile I drove, so the firebird has virtually already paid for itself. Then the jeep I'll be trading off for more than I even bought it for.

So even if they don't come down much on the price of the wrx I'll still do it.

if i had to buy an import i'd say it would be the WRX or the mitsu EVO. You can't argue about their performance. Sounds like a nice car

if your gf is going to buy the jeep from you, whats the difference if you sell it to her or someone else?

might want to test drive a z28 before signing on the dotted line if you havent already.

the sti that i drove was extremely fun to drive and handled well but i just couldnt justify the price of one.

If I had to get an import I'd get a SRT-4, Better performance, for the same price, brand new off the showroom floor.... But If I had 20 thousand to spend, it would be gone, and there would be a WS6 in my driveway right now, but thats all "but if"

SRT-4 was designed and built in the USA...put together by United Auto Workers..can't get much more american than that.
