Where can I find paint to paint a set of wings west ground effects? What brands are best? What paint code is for 99 Pewter? How much do I need for a 5 piece Wings West kit? How much should it all cost? What about clear coat?
I have a friend to paint it at a his school paint booth, I just need to supply the paint.
I got my paint from O'reilly. The black looks good, but the duma$$ didn't mix the red correctly, so it is slightly different than the rest of the car.
THe price was great.

yeah if you have the correct paint code and a person that knows what the hell they are doing mixing it, o'reilly's is a good place...can't hardly beat du pont.

Chevrolet Pewter is VERY VERY hard to match as there are a lot of variances. I know.. I painted cars for over 5 years and Pewter was always a pain in the a**. You need to go to a good body/paint shop and have them get out their color matching book. They will find the closest match/variance and then supply you with a proper color mixing chart. They may even mix it up for you and sell it to you directly. If not, then take the color mixing chart (like a recipe) they supplied you to any good automotive paint supply store and they should be able to mix it up for you. For a typical 5 piece ground effects kit, I would go with 1 quart of base coat and 1 quart of clearcoat. You will also need different types of reducers for the base coat and clear coat, probably 1 quart for each. Then you will also need a hardner for the clear coat. The shop you buy from will know exactly how much you will need. Also, by far the best product out there is PPG. You can get away with a cheaper base coat system but make sure and use PPG clearcoat and hardner. Also, VERY VERY important: make sure you use a plastic adhesion promoter on the bare plastic before any type of paint goes on.. this will prevent any peeling or flaking later on.. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP as it WILL peel later on if you do.
3 coats of base coat and 3 coats of clear should be just right.
Anyway, just look in the yellow pages for automotive paint supply stores. A good one will be able to help you out a lot. Good luck.
P.S. You may never get an exact match with Pewter but it should be very close.. Later
