I pass by the new GTO and a salesmen stops me. I ask him how much power its putting out. He give me some 300ish number. I was like "is that at the flywheel?" He looked dumbfounded. I hate that.

Hey firefighter... I have been selling cars for a while. Be prepared for A LOT of hours, times where you won't make any money, and A LOT of down time. I work for Koons Automotive Organization for Toyota. You will get a reputation, but you need to be positive, and always always always... sound like you know what you are talking about. I can't stress how important it is to know your product. Also, when selling cars you are selling 3 things... yourself as a salesperson, the dealership in which you work, and the product. Customers ask them selves 3 questions, Is this who i want to buy from? Is this dealership treating me as i should be treated. Most importantly is this the RIGHT car for me. Not every customer comes on the lot knowing exactly what they want.

Also, always look professional.. and BE HONEST! Yes, it is true, we are stereotyped to be liars, cheats and so on. Tell them exactly what you are doing and how long it will take for every step of the process.

As you can see, i've done a fair amount of sales training for my dealership. I am up for promotion in a few months for F&I manager, so things can go very well for people. Just one word of advice... do not get lazy...you have to think everyone is a sale, no matter what.

If you need anything email me. ;) Good luck babe!!!

True, honesty is key. It will bite you in the *** if you dont be honest. But dont be affraid to give them a whole lot less or sell it for a whole lot more than its worth. If someone has bad credit you need to be honest with them if they are going to get more upside down than they already are.. Otherwise they'll hate you in the end because its "your fault they cant afford their car payment"
