Where did the term "ricer" come from?

So I got in a "discussion" with my roommate the other day who was basically yelling at me because she thinks the term "ricer" is derogatory toward asians.

I had never really heard of a "ricer" being an asian person driving an import, I always classified it with the type of car you drive regardless of race.

So did "ricer" come from asians who drive imports, since asians eat a lot of rice so people say their cars run off it too or some sh*t?

I mean, there was only 1 asian in F&F that I can see...

i think the term ricer has evolved. the first term i heard was "rice burner" because the cars are foreign and from japan and in japanese/chinese culture they eat alot of rice and so people probably said "these cars come from a place where rice is all they eat and thats what people run on so i bet their cars do too". So i think ricer is a person the DRIVES a rice burner....thats my two cents....i'm probably wrong tho

"Ricer" originated from the term "rice rocket". It was first used by American bikers to insult their Japanese sportbike competitors. Since rice is the staple food of most Asian countries, "rice rocket" meany any Asian sportbike. over time, it was applied to Japanese cars as well. Eventually, as the Japanese sport compact scene took over, and with it the clueless, tasteless owners of said sport compacts, "rice rocket" became shortened to "ricer". it was applied not only to the cars, but also to the owners of these rolling pieces of vomit.

that is the official story, i just added my opinion of riced-out cars. to shorten it a bit:

American bikers hate Japanese sportbikes, call them "rice rockets." Japanese cars also pick up the name, which is then shortened to "ricer." Owners of these cars are also called ricers.

Actually it IS a racist comment lol. A "Ricer" is a person that drives a "rice burner". Rice burner is a comment meant to make fun of asian cars. Batmobile it has nothing to do with the sound of the car. It has to do with the cars running on rice because everything in the country that made the car is made out of rice ;)

I had not heard of the term 'ricer' ubntil I got the internet.

The term 'riceburner' had been around in the 70's and I remember the Harley riders calling the Japanese import motorcycles 'riceburners'.

I do not use the term.
