  • Weird experience getting pulled over tonight

Alright, to set this thing up, tonight I was following a friend of mine to the beach. My radar detector starts going off like mad and I notice I've got a police officer tailing me for a good 5 miles.

He eventually pulls me over and claims I was "weaving through the lines", which didnt make sense because I was going perfect, even my friend in the car was a witness to that. Regardless, he walks up to the car and I was waiting there palms up, as you guys always say to do. He asks for license and reg, and I tell him where everything is before I hand it to him. He takes a quick peek through my car with his flashlight, then he notices my radar detector and says "hey, that's nice ...how much was it?" very sarcastically. I replied that I had no idea, it was a gift...which was true, I just got it a few weeks ago. He just said "oh.." as if he was dissapointed by my answer and checked my car over to make sure I had all my stickers.

Anyways to make an already long story short, he takes my license and registration for about 5 minutes, then comes back and says "alright, you can go now." No mention to be careful next time or anything...so I'm assuming he was either bored or giving me trouble because he saw the radar detector. I did everything by the book and I have a totally clean record, so there was nothing to even warn me about...I guess he was just bored. Still got me a bit nervous though haha.

To make things clear I have no disrespect towards police officers, I just felt like me being pulled over was a bit bogus on this particular instance (it was the first time I've ever been pulled over as well). I have to thank all you guys for the advice on what to do when you're pulled over though, I think it really made things go alot smoother tonight.

maybe he was bored. it happens. i paced a guy doin 50 the other day in a 35, and when he finally saw me, he slowed down, i got right behind him and acted like i was on the radio. i saw him get real nervous, then i just drove up next to him and was like "slow it down man, dont be speedin on that road".

    that cop just sounded bored.....

Eh, no harm done. Playing it cool is the way to go in any situation.

you didnt mention the time of night but i would guess you were profiled as a drunk driver. he was checking for odor of alochol. that along with your "weaving" would be enough to ask you to take the roadside tests. btw, if you are drunk you will deny that you were weaving (of course, if you are sober you will deny that you are weaving -- perhaps it is best to make no comment).

If I'm doing something wrong, please, by all means, pull me over, that is your job. But if I am minding my own business, driving safely at night, and you tail me (and I DO mean tail) for a good fifteen minutes because I'm going the speed limit, I have a slight issue with that.

Not only does it cause unwanted stress towards me, because I feel that he's checking my plates, but I don't think it's necessary.

This cop followed me from Escanaba all the way home (state trooper). He didn't pull me over because he got bored with me about 45 miles in when I refused to speed.

I love how cops fly up on your *** ride you for about 5 minutes then speed off doing 75 with no blue lights on and do what? Go to jail house.

I have no hatred towards police officers. I just dont agree with what we do. Theres this black racist cop around town. In little town i hang out with my friends. A few of them are redneck. Weve been hanging out in this parkin lot since forever. One night some of them did burn outs on crotch rockets and **** and reved the piss out of them. for about a week we had to leave at 10. Well last night it was like 10:40 Curfew isnt untill 12. Cops like its time to go home. We all go up to food lion parkin lot where the sign says. No parkin after business hours. Food lion stays open till 3 and the laundrymat is open all night. Well here he comes again. "yaull know yaull cant do this". Friend timmy with a 2000 v6 stang goes up to him and says "Hey man, i thought we could stay here untill stores close. Cop:"Im not a man im an officer and i say its time to go home". We do nothing wrong and we just sit around and bull ****. We never race and werenever loud. We all leave and as were leaving he parks across the road making sure every single one of us leave. We go to a friends house he sees we all go in same direction not 3 minutes later he rides by and see us all on his porch. I guess he figured it was nothing he can do.

My bad if ive came across as a cop hater in previous post i just dont agree with some decisions. I have alot of respect for cops i mean they risk there lives every day trying to keep the town of orange clean. But then there are some cops who are crooked as hell and mean as ****.

It was about 9:30 at night. For one thing, I wasn't drinking...I'm 18, and the last thing I need is a DUI, nevermind drinking underage. Aside from that, my friend who I was following was literally all over the road...if anyone was driving like they were drunk it was him, yet I got pulled over and I was honsetly driving at the speed limit and perfectly following the lines, as I previously mentioned my friend was a witness to that. I am a very safe driver.
