I've seen ads for $10/hour phone support type jobs, but is it worth it? What else is out there? Anything fun?

It is worth it if the company does other things in the computer industry as well.

I started here over 4 years ago at a little under 10 an hour doing tech support.

It is also good to put as experience on the resume.

I started my job at 10.50/hr and the only reason I was given a raise after 9 month was because I left to come to school. I'd look elsewhere, but any tech job wants experience so it could always be a foot in the door type of deal.

the computer industry is pretty screwed right now. It's just flooded with people. Honestly if you want to go into computer stuff then yeah tech support is a start, but phone support can be one of the most frustrating jobs on the planet. You find out just how many people simply can't follow instructions. Since you are the front line person you catch the most flak from customers also. Once you get some good experience under your belt and you auctually know some stuff though you can build up a nice little cash only side job.

You couldnt pay me $25/hr to do phone support. Phone support means answering calls from people with questions like "I broke the internet, how do I fix my AOL?"
