Surgery? Any Experience?

Yes I have an extra bone in my groin :eek:
This is not a spur it is an actual full blown bone w/ the possibility be it small that it could grow back.

I have had a groin pull before playing hockey but never an actual tear. Most pro players who have surgery are told not to play for a few months like maybe 2-4 months. I found a nice link you may be interested in.

Now what is this about an extra bone in your groin? How, where, are they sure its a bone and not a piece if cartalige or something else?

I'm not an expert or anything, but an injury in the groin area well put you out for a while. Mostly every movement involves the groin section in some way or another, with walking being the biggest. You probably wont be able to do much of it because there will be constant rubbing against the irrated spot (from the surgery) and the groin area is sensitive (the layer of skin is thin and the pain sensors get activated easily). All I can say is good luck, and sorry to hear about your misfortune.

This is the 4th Doctor I've been to, and yes they are fairly certain its a bone, not cartlidge or calcium deposits. In an effort to repair itself when I kept injuring it the bone where the muscle tore off attempted to reattach to the muscle. I tore it again, it attempted to reattach, repeat multiple times. Every time I tore it it grew a tiny bit making it eaiser and eaiser to tear each time since it wasn't attached like it was supposed to.

I'm working with A Dr. out of OSU medical center who is a bone cancer specialist and he was pretty comfortable with the removal of it, but is unsure until I get cut as to what it will involve 100%.

I've never had that type of surgery...
My ex just got cut open below her belly button on Friday.. it wasn't very cool. :( She is still not going to work, but she might try to go back tomorrow or the next day.

I had surgery on my elbow and my head, I can tell you about that if you want :D

I had surgery on my feet and was off work for 6 weeks,I got stir crazy and made them release me early back to work. This seems like it may be the same or worse :(

So after they remove the excess bone, are they reattaching the muscle in the same operation, a separate operation, or was that deemed unnecessary?

If the muscle is attached to the "sroutling" then yes they are going to reattach it, they believe it is possible that it is attached to the correct bone, but the new one is rubbing against and pushing the muscle away from the bone.

as far as the drugs, I hardly ever take pain killers I usually just sleep it off.

I had surgery once to remove a tumor from underneath my tongue. It was weird, the doc forgot his camera and so I readily volunteered mine. I got home and got to see all the gruesome pictures, apparently it was some rare type of cyst thing that everyone wanted to see. I can't imagine groin surgery though, that's probably gonna be rough to walk for awhile. Good luck though!
