How does one go about getting a loan for stuff like car parts??? I think it was Viper04af that said he had gotten a loan for his turbo project. I'm just curious what all is involved. Thanks

You can go to any credit union and take out a personal loan. Most will only give like 5 grand though. -
depending on your credit history, some banks are more willing than others. some might want like 10-20% down to write the loan. In any case, I wouldnt tell them its for car parts. thats a horrible investment. tell them your concolidating or something.
oh, and they will give you a lot more than 5k. I got a personal loan just over $8k this spring at 4.25%. They would have given me quite a bit more, but thats all I needed. I also have a decent history with the loan agent.\'01 Mineral Grey SVT Cobra<br />-former F-body ownerComment

If you have to take out a loan to afford car modifications, you should not be buying those car modifications.

Agreed. Never take out a loan for car parts. Where is a faster car going to get you in life? Create a savings account..build good credit,,buy a house with a garage..worry about a nice car later in life.Originally posted by Stefan:

Debt, unless absolutely necessary AND secured to something of equal-or-greater-value (ie car loan, mortgage, etc) is dangerous, stupid and a serious waste of money. Unsecured debt and negative equity SUCK!
I'm still paying for my mistakes whilst younger.
