Hey guys/gals:

After reading alot of the posts i feel that it is my duty to the boards to post a few things myself, and not being a car whiz and not having any useful knowledge i will just rant about my job.

I work at a hotel that is 10 minutes from a tourist town (Saratoga, NY) we get people in here all the time, that do nothing but complain form the minute that they walk in, until after they leave. Now im not saying that all guests are bad, but we have to deal with people all day everyday. I work overnight, which means i get to deal the most with drunks, people on drugs, fights, and teenie boppers that feel that "hotel parties" are fun.... which i guess they would be, if the novelty of drinking hadnt wore off before i was 21.

It is almost as if people look at us as their servants, that we can magically do everything that they want us to, whether or not it is feasible, or even available. Also, not to pick on Canadians, and I hope not to offend anyone, but WE DO NOT ACCEPT CANADIAN MONEY!

OK now that's off my chest, we are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That really doesnt give us time to have a "normal" life, or vcacation for that fact, so consider yourself lucky that you can get away for a while. And taking your bad day out on us, doesnt make us happier to help you, it makes us less likely to want to help you, and if there is something wrong, it just makes us not care as much as we would if you were just pleasant, conducted your business and left.

And also, people that come in at like 10 p.m. looking for a $50 room in the middle of the summer, in a tourist town, in the middle of horse racing season.

Ok, i think i got it all off my chest, thanks for reading, and any criticism would be cool, so long as it is along the lines of "if you dont like your job find a new one" because i like my job, i just dont like being here in the summer.

    Thanks Guys/Gals....

HaHa, bro tell me about it.

I work as a night auditor for a very very busy hotel. The 11pm to 7am shift. People thing you know everything.

I live in Jersey, people ask me questions like "What is the best way to get to Montreal Canada from here?" and when I say "I dont know" they get so angry.

I have had people tell me to change their plane ticket reservations.

Not to mention the fact I have to deal with hookers, transexuals, drunks, drunk kids, people on drugs like angel dust and others that feel they want to fight you. etc etc.

Working in the hotel I realized one thing, Japanese people are the best people in the world. They are the most respectful, most understanding, and polite people I have met, in hotels.

One perk is that a female pimp, offers me free hookers, and honestly they are hot as hell. But I always turn her down.

Infact I just came back from work.

My girlfriend is a housekeeper at a hotel around here, she hates the job. Crappy hours, crappy pay, and guests are snobs.

Just recently her boss has started stealing the tips that guests leave, going into the rooms before the housekeepers and getting the tips. the person already makes an awesome salary but i guess it's not enough.

Out of curiousity... Are you supposed to leave a tip if you spent one night?

I mean I have left tips if say I made a mess and they provided me with a service and my room was clean the next day, for the second night I stay.

But what if you stop in catch some shuteye, eat soem waffles at the free breakfast and leave, do you leave a tip?

BTw as for someon looking for a hotel room at 10pm during horse racing season...

Just an experience of me, I was driving through South carolina on a trip from Florida to northern Indiana, me and my bro stopped at 3 exits and there were no rooms. Honestly how the feck were we supposed to know it was the weekend of a big national Math club competition in buckfeck south Carolina?

I mean I know not to try and stay in daytona during bike week or during the daytona 500... but a realtively small event in the middle of nowhere.

i know that we are there to serve people, but as darock said, we just have to deal with alot more "problems" than most people would expect, i had a guy last week decide that after work, he would take quite a few hits of acid, and set off a few fire extinguishers in his room..... nice one to explain to your boss after your first month there.

I dont think youre supposed to really tip for one night, unless you leave a mess.... i dont really.

as far as horse racing goes, thats the only thing this town lives on, its world renown horse track, and $50 wont cut it, like tonight my cheapest room is $215, and people expect me to drop the price 75% just to accomidate what they want to spend.

Hell guys i was just havin a really bad night, got the cops called because of a lady going around the hotel preaching about how the gov't is out to kill her, and the mob is after her too, and my personal favorite.... alarm clocks and sending radioactive waves into the chip in her brain that George Bush ordered her to get.

Thanks for listenin, now i know im not the only one!
