Hey guys/gals:
After reading alot of the posts i feel that it is my duty to the boards to post a few things myself, and not being a car whiz and not having any useful knowledge i will just rant about my job.
I work at a hotel that is 10 minutes from a tourist town (Saratoga, NY) we get people in here all the time, that do nothing but complain form the minute that they walk in, until after they leave. Now im not saying that all guests are bad, but we have to deal with people all day everyday. I work overnight, which means i get to deal the most with drunks, people on drugs, fights, and teenie boppers that feel that "hotel parties" are fun.... which i guess they would be, if the novelty of drinking hadnt wore off before i was 21.
It is almost as if people look at us as their servants, that we can magically do everything that they want us to, whether or not it is feasible, or even available. Also, not to pick on Canadians, and I hope not to offend anyone, but WE DO NOT ACCEPT CANADIAN MONEY!
OK now that's off my chest, we are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That really doesnt give us time to have a "normal" life, or vcacation for that fact, so consider yourself lucky that you can get away for a while. And taking your bad day out on us, doesnt make us happier to help you, it makes us less likely to want to help you, and if there is something wrong, it just makes us not care as much as we would if you were just pleasant, conducted your business and left.
And also, people that come in at like 10 p.m. looking for a $50 room in the middle of the summer, in a tourist town, in the middle of horse racing season.
Ok, i think i got it all off my chest, thanks for reading, and any criticism would be cool, so long as it is along the lines of "if you dont like your job find a new one" because i like my job, i just dont like being here in the summer.
Thanks Guys/Gals....
