so, according to the article, the new camaro will not have a firebird/trans am running mate?

This isn't new news. Lutz said a few years ago, that the next generation of the GTO will be produced in the US and the current GTO is just to 'tide us over'

So then how are they going to do it, instead of the firebird there will be the gto and it will share the camaro platform and two engine choices for both, or will the gto be completely seperate from the camaro? If it's the latter then, that seems like a bad marketing decision, having two similar sports car competing against each other in the same company.

The new zeta chasis allows sever different kinds of cars to be built on one platform.

For example, zeta could do like say f-body and w-body. Instead of having 2 different platforms, for two different cars, one platform can make 2 different cars. Atleast thats how I understand it, and I may be wrong.

And GTO isn't a sports car. It's not designed to compete with the camaro, or mustang. It's designed to go after BMW and Mercedes.

Cadillac and saab are designed to compete with BMW and Mercedes. The think the gto is designed to go after chrysler's new muscle cars like the charger.

And this article is just seriously re-stating what they said back in late '04. Maybe it was early '05 but either way, it was known that the car was going to be a short limited run, then built in the US for the next generation. I noticed a few other people in here caught that so I know im not crazy.
