Man I'm confused I don't really know how to vocalize this, well type it anyhow. I'm just lookin for honest suggestions other people seem to get good advice on subjects like this from this board so i thought it was worth a shot.

    Here goes:
I've been off and on with my girlfriend for about a year now and I really care about her but I just cant tell if she feels the same way. For a little background we first dated two years ago and that lasted about 2 months but both of us were really busy so we called it off because it was really interfeering with both of our school work. Well last year round this time we got back together again and about the same thing happened. Well now were back together but were at seperate schools and having a relationship over the phone just isnt any fun. I've thus far resisted temptation from one of my close friends at school and as far as I know shes been faithful as well, and I would trust her with my life. I saw her for the first time in a few months, yes months, today and things just didnt seem quite the same. She met me at the mall and we walked and talked for an hour then I walked her out to her truck and gave her a hug and she left. I will be the first to admit that the oppurtunity was there for a more intament(spelling?) parting but I've always been kinda shy about stuff like that. So thats the story and heres the problem, while I'm at school and even at home I find myself just wanting that intamacy that all my friends seem to have. Just a person to hold and so on, I'm just wondering if thats a sign that I need that or if thats just a natural part of this whole long distance thing? I meen being 18 I don't know a whole lot about this love thing but I do know that I care about her more than anything but there is this lingering doubt that this is going to work this time around. I dunno I just don't know what to do I fel so lonely all the time and that sucks. Any advice would be great although reading this now it is a little confusing. Thanks for any help you can give.

Aye. Just broke up about a week ago after almost 4 years. It aint easy. Long distance must be hard. But like you said your 18, just try to enjoy life and dont worry about getting serious. Chill with your friends and work on your car. Get yourself settled before you try serious relationships. Not easy at all, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Go with your gut, you said there's doubt, just do what you feel is right... I'm 20 so I'm in a semi-close boat as you, so I know the confusion. Good luck.

(I'm a little bit drunk, so if any part didn't make any sense, just disregaurd it.)

Yeah long distance is hard but I've never givin it a second thought till now that this is the right thing to do. I dont want this to end but the emotional turmoil is a little much sometimes. I just hope I can sort all this out in the next few days cuz I don't know if I can take this plus the added stress of school. Im just rambling now.........

Let it burn man...trust me. I let my high school sweetheart go the second semester of college. Even though we lived together, she went to work 40 hours a week, I went to school f/t and worked 30 hours a week. We both were on totally different life paths.

She started hanging with a different crowd, and I didn't approve of the things she started doing (smoking cigarettes, drinking, etc.) because I thought she needed to go to school but she did not. I knew it just wasn't going to work, because I don't like girls that are 100% dependent on a guy. She moved out, and it was hard on her for awhile, but not 2 months later some other guy moved in and she's getting married soon now. Hey, whatever floats her boat but I think this dude is gonna get sick of her after 1 year or so too. Unless he likes to support girls like that, I like girls that think for themselves, have their **** together and I don't have to worry about making their car payment, pay bills for them, etc.

I have since been 100% single, and I stick to my two call policy. If they flake out twice in a row, good bye. I get another girls number or give them mine.

One thing I have learned, its OK to be single. I got over the heart break (because if you're with someone since you were 16, its hard to just let them go). I realized I don't need a girl to be happy. I actually have PLENTY of money now after I pay my bills, I can go out whenever I want with my friends, I can do crap with the car, do stuff that I want and enjoy. I seem to go out with a few different girls a month, and if they don't reciprocate, oh well. I've realized there are PLENTY out there. Once you find your own happiness, then can you truly enjoy a girl that is meant for you and never just settle on a girl to have a girlfriend. Of all the girls I've tagged, sex is sex too. Thats one of the best things about being a guy too, only a few have been marginally better partners in bed, unlike girls who have to work at getting off.

Enjoy school, party, get your noodle wet with different girls and enjoy yourself now!
