Assistance needed for DVD/ VCR burner combo

Ok, I have
Sharp DV-RW550U unit.

It is a DVD/ VCR combo with burner included.

I have a sh*t load of VCR tapes I want to burn to DVD's.

It accepts DVD-RW and DVD-R's

I have 100 DVD-R's ready to start burning.

I've read the instruction on the unit, I put both tape and blank DVD in and attempt to burn and it gives me a warning of:

This program is not allowed to be recorded.

I thought maybe it is the little black tab on the tape which is missing would be the problem... so I put tape over it and tried again... same response.

How the hell do I bypass this????

1. Remove teh tape off the vcr casing, the missing tab is what keeps it from being recorded over.

2. As far as the "security featurre" on the burner side, maybe there are forums out in teh "wolr of teh intranet" that cain help if no one here cain.

btw, are these part of teh billions of dvd/r that best buy had on sale for liek $20 or so a stack? ;)
