Despite braking parts, being frozen, windburned and soaked, we still had some fun. Though, we probably won't do a winter trailride again. I like to be warm when I'm trailriding.
And, due to steering difficulty and some near-tipping situations, the truck is getting lowered back down to about 6" of lift, and I'm doing a complete hy-steer crossover steering system. The stock steering system with those big tires and the new-found flex I'll gain by lowering it with softer springs will just not give me the control needed on the trail.

That's not a concern with a Sawzawl :D I'll trim the corners of the fenders up to reduce rubbing in full-flex situations, and it won't affect the paint job.
ROFL... Winter runs are fun... but I agree.. you need Hydro at least in the front. I think when you price it out... you'll only be getting the front
Lowering it... I can truely understand too... it's just too much to be that tall when you don't have the width to back it up. You already have full size axles... so...
But over all... looks like a fair time. I think you need an Atlas II TC now :D I don't think you could break that if you wanted to!

1) I wasn't meaning hydro-assist... I was meaning Hi-Steer - over-the-axle tie rod mounting... I'll probably wait on that and focus on getting the crossover done. As it is, w/ the stock front-to-back steering system, modified only to connect up with 12" of lift present, it was virtually uncontrollable on the trail. I was ripping the wheel lock to lock just to keep straight, and there were times when i was stuck that I had it at full lock left and the wheels were barely turned left. Very unsafe, and I must have the crossover steering system in there before the next trail ride.
2) Yes, lowering it and making it more flexible is crucial to it's stability. There's 15" under ther enow (12 suspension, 3 body) And I'm looking at 6" of suspension and 0 body (So I'll be taking 9" out of it), then trimming the fenders to fit the 38.5's under the new-found flex. the 15" looks cool, but it's not practical in any shape or form.
3) The NP205 is damn near indestrucible as well... at least internally. Plus, this one was freshly rebuilt too along w/ the TH400 tranny and the stroker. I like the combo and unless I have catastrophic case failure I'll keep the 205. A guy over at Colorado K5 said I should look into finding where that CV shaft was made and look into warranty, becuase that's a strange place for failure.
Originally posted by TealV6: Good luck with warranty on the shaft.... unless you buy a name brand (Hi Driveline, Woody's, etc) most will not back them up.
I did say that it should have been covered in mud right??? Hmmm... I think you still owe me MUD pictures
W/out a front driveshaft, it'll be a little while
