  • Front license plates may suck, but they sure are lifesavers.

Today on my way to work I accidentally rearended someone... someone in front of the line of cars hit their brakes, chain effect, he slammed his, I slammed mine, but I didn't hit the pedal hard enough, and I touched his bumper (a Jeep Cherokee) while I was screeching to a halt (it must have been a 5-7 MPH hit). I felt awful about it, but there was no real damage (his Jeep was fine). The only thing I could see was that my front license plate cover had a few scuffs... had there been no plate, things could have been a lot uglier. :( We shook hands and went on our way. I wonder if he took my apologies seriously (some young guy in a red sports car doesn't help), so I apologized again, and we shook hands and went our ways.

If it wasn't for that plate (and cover), things could have been worse for the nose of my car or the other guy's jeep. A cautionary tale for cv6. ;)

How about that space-age stuff they use in thermapedic mattresses?

Be sure to take the plate holder off and check behind it. When I hit a dog a few months ago all that happened was paint came off in two places. But there was spider cracked paint behind the plate holder. now those cracks in the paint have grown and now I need the whole nose painted.

Pfft, my nose needs repainting anyway (I can't really afford it now though, and if I could, I'd get the whole car repainted), but thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out.
