Autozone clerk talking trash about the V6 F-body

The other day I bought Chevy HI-PO mag. at Autozone and the clerk notice I turned to the page where it had the white V6 Camaro in it and was reading it. The article was about young guns and this college kid sent a picture of his V6 Camaro and an article about it. The clerk looked at it with me and said that he has a red 96 V6 Camaro.

We talked for awhile about our V6 cars and I told him to join this site. He was a young guy, maybe 19 or so. Another young clerk, maybe 24 or so, overheard what we were talking and came over and started talking trash about the V6.

He said, "what's a V6 doing in a mag. like this." Then he said how the V6 has been giving the F-bodies bad rep.

He pointed to me his 1971 Camaro with a 350 in it that's parked in front. He said he did 13.8 with it NA. I told him we have guys doing that and better. I told him to go to our timeslip page and he said BS. We were faking it, I told him we have slips and Video. He still said it's fake and that anybody can make video and slip.

I was really mad. I wish I had my bird at that moment so I could challenge him. But ofcourse, I don't do street racing. Plus my SC is out for the time being.

But man, I almost Hulk out on that guy. WHat a jerk.

There's one or two like that at Advance Auto here, and what's really funny is that one of them drives an orange Neon with limo-tint windows and the big 4" fart can muffler on the back. I offered a challenge of a $100 race, but he wouldn't jump on it.

i hated that about my car. BUT i pulled into Advanced Auto once and had a '92 Firebird loaded withguys pull up as i was leaving and i stopped and talked with them. The driver was like," That car is HOTT" I'm like thanks. His car was nice too so i had to compliment him. Nice guy. I took him for a ride and he was like" This thing would KILL my Firebird. LOL i figured it would but i was tryin' to be nice. I hate some people. That's ok. I've got my supercharged car now and i'll leave it a sleeper. Except for the 2 little badges on the fenders. yeah some of them autozone guys are idiots. last time i went there there was a customer talking about his car...i overheard them talking about it. heres how it went.

customer: i have a 95 monte carlo Z34

autozone guy: really, does it have the 350 in it?

customer: yeah

autozone guy: them things are fast as hell dude!

i looked at both of them in total amazement at how stupid 2 people could actually be. now correct me if im wrong but im 100% sure that A)there was no 350 in any 95 monte carlos and B) the Z34 is a quad cam 3.4 right?
after that i felt at least 50% smarter.

yep, only had a 160hp 3.1L and 210hp 3.4L DOCH

when i worked at autozone, this guy came in needing parts for his V8 thunderbird...i complimented him on his car, and told him i loved those cars, and given the chance i'd snag the supercoupe.

he gave me this grin, in all its buck-toothed chaw cheeked glory...and says "v8's is faster" lol.

Everyone talks trash about V6 mustangs, V6 Camaros and Grand Prix's.

The matter of the fact is most people do not explore other's cars because it hurts their ego to know someone else out there has a faster car or maybe an underdog. It's sad that so many people live like this, claiming they have the best, nothing is better, they are the best, until they lose, or get proven wrong they throw a sh*t fit and cry and wine and want to fight sometimes.

It's normal, DSM owners are like that, and alot of mustang owners/f-body owners are the same.

Many people boast about how great something they have, just to make themselves feel better, but deep down they know they are full of sh*t [img]smile.gif[/img]

try not to worry about it. last time i was in aa (funny about that acronym) the clerk and two customers where discussing their ram 1500's w/ hemi. "oh its so expensive to fill the tank." "its so powerful." "its so fast."

i am sure these bozos need a hemi/1500 to drive around washington dc metro area.

secondly, i test drive a hemi/1500. not impressed. yes its a hemi but there's is just too much truck (not to mention you cant get the power to the ground).
