when you think of all the wrecks that you see on the news.. most have two 16-18year old kids racing down the street with speeds exceeding 100+mph. they have a tendency to think that they are invincible to everything at that age anyways. so they do dumb S***. they dont use the same train of thought that an older more experienced driver would use in deciding a safe speed to cut out at, driving conditions, traffic, pedestrians, etc. they see professional drivers in movies and tv make high volume traffic racing making it look easy. so they tend to think "well if they can do it so can i." kind of mentality. getting parents to pay for their mistakes makes(such as tickets)lets them get a free pass.

parents who buy their kids a fast car should not be surprised to see them get into serious wrecks. the kid wants the car b\c its fast right? well he then wrecks his Evo into a phone pole and dies becuase of that. yeah that sucks but what do you expect from a inmature kid with a fast car?

when i was that age my parents wouldnt let me get a T\A.. but now as i look back in retrospect i appreciate that. i bought both of my cars myself.(92grand am and 95 firebird) that made me think before i acted. yeah i did dumb stuff but nothing that would get me killed. im more experienced now and i am smarter. now is when i start looking at those T\As that i wanted 7 years ago.

current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

actually here you can apply and test when your 20, as long as you'll be 21 by the time your through the accadamy. I'm schedualed to start taking the exam the end of this up coming summer.

I think it's a combination of things that make street racing more targeted. Movies like f&f helped encourage the scene, but it probably would've happened even without that. You've gotta be honest that most people, even civic-type drivers, will call the F&F cars pretty rice themselves. But it would've started without the movie.
Look at todays cars compared to cars in the past - technology has increased and everyone is in a horsepower war. You've got a $20k srt-4 that already has 250hp, LS1 cars are relatively inexpensive now, the RSX has a 150mph governor or whatever. Cars are just faster these days straight from the factory. Money seems to grow on trees, kids get their cars handed to them and never need to bother starting with a cheap car. Mom and Dad buy them a car with isntant hp death.
I personally think that technology has advanced faster than driver skill has advanced, and it's become way to easy to get a fast car. People can race for really cheap, so it's natural that cops would try to put a stop to it.

I think it's due to these "racers" are all driving "modified cars" they are now visually different from other cars on the road. Also the loud exhaust ricer or not, draws attention. These "modifications" single out this group of people and then are labeled "street racers".
Cops enforce the laws on street racers for 2 reasons I think a) most of the time there will be illegal mods/fines for city b)public/media over spin the facts then people complain

Sounds great im applying for the Arkansas Police Corps because that gives you all the training you need and a $15,000 tuition reembursement. All you have to do is get accepted and commit to a participating law enforcement agency.
