I built mine for about $850 during thanksgiving '03, so almost a year and a half ago -
raidmax case w/lots of neons and big window, 52x cdrw, dvd, 512mb DDR400mhz ram, 80 gb hd, DFi Lanparty mobo (glows in the dark), AMD 2800+, Thermaltake cpu fan(really big one), ATI 2600 256mb vid card.

It performs amazingly, never had any problems and can run just about anything I throw at it (ie- 3d games and some hardcore engineering programs)

You must not know the power of Unix.... I think I'll take a *nix core over anything M$ can produce... maybe one day they'll ship Longhorn.
</font>[/QUOTE]Unix will run just as well, if not better, on an IBM compatible as it will on any Mac. I don't see how that makes Macs &gt; M$.

I'd never use a Unix based OS for my home machine, though I have been itching to play around with the various flavors of Linux I don't have a spare machine to do it on.

Why office depot of course, ;)

It was like a limited weekend deal with rebates... I built my sam computer for just under $1k, which is ok I guess but not great. A co-worker/computer nerd friend called me up to tell me about the deal, she bought her boyfriend one, and a second one just to resell on ebay(she finds deals and resells on ebay all the time) She said she hasn't seen a deal this good ever. 2 other co-workers of mine picked them up to.

I have half assed been looking at laptops, nothing fancy but something that was like 750mhz+ in the $200-300 area but it seems like they are all still around $500ish even used, then I saw this deal little more then I wanted to spend but its new, and has more then what I was looking for. I think the deal ended last wed.
