  • I am all that is man....

no I didn't chug any syrup...

but I developed a new system to pulling a transmission.

    Step 1
unload car from flatbed into garage look at it in disgust. Let it sit a day.

    Step 2
Realize the driveshaft is stuck in the tail of the tranny, drop rear to make sure its not the rear but the transmission. Look at car in disgust call it a piece of ****. let sit for a few more days

    Step 3
unhook y-pipe and and 2 side brackets, call the car a piece of ****. Let sit for a few days

    Step 4
Ignore for like a week because of work and disgust of POS car.

    Step 5
Realize your daily driver is going away, start drinking some "liquid courage" starting with some jack and cokes, then half dozen Bud Ices.

    Step 6
tie a rope to the T-bar, down to the rear of the tranny, helps balance it and gives a little more control.

    Step 7
Unbolt then yank the everloving piss out of the tranny while saying, **** you you ****ing **** of a piece of ****ing **** ****.

    Step 8
pull out the tranny, stuck driveshaft and torque arm from under the car stand up and say "I AM ALL THAT IS MAN"

    Step 9
Pull your 32 oz mug of jack and coke out of the freezer in near icee form and drink, then pull out the laptop and post your endevoir

Pulling the T5 at FBC (shop hrs)

                    1) Unload car from trailer
                    2) Drive very very slowly to lift (rejoice, car actually moved under it’s own power!)
                    4) Position car on lift and raise (thank those helping to position car)
                    5) Remove driveshaft, trans cross-member, and all bolts connecting trans to torque arm (bang knuckles on trans tunnel, laugh)
                    6) Locate trans tail plug while fluid is spilling on floor, throw quick-dry on fluid
                    7) Drain fluid from trans
                    6) Remove four 10mm bolts holding shifter to trans (scrape hands on bottom of car body)
                    7) Borrow long extension, impact wrench, and locate 18mm socket
                    8) While assistant is holding tail, unbolt trans from block.
                    9) Find 15mm socket and 18mm open combo wrench to remove through bolt.
                    10) Separate trans from block. Set aside
                    11) Install is reverse of removal.

Pulling the T5 at FBC (after hrs)

                    1) unload car from trailer
                    2) realize that car is unlocked but keys are in other truck (curse loudly)
                    3) jack up car and put on wheel dollies so it can be moved without being steered (curse loudly and demand car be lightened more)
                    4) position car on lift and raise (curse loudly because car won’t center)
                    5) thank friend for arriving with cooler. chip in for beverages of choice. Drink one or two while looking at car in air and discussing how it broke.
                    5) with help, remove driveshaft, trans cross-member, and all bolts connecting trans to torque arm (bang knuckles on trans tunnel, complain that someone took your 13mm wrench, locate adjustable wrench, curse)
                    6) search franticly for trans tail plug while fluid is spilling on floor
                    7) drain fluid from trans (drink one or two while waiting)
                    8) slip on spilled fluid (don’t fall down)
                    9) throw quick-dry on fluid
                    10) remove four godforsaken bolts holding shifter to trans (cut hands really bad on bottom of car body because that shifter hole is f'n sharp, curse at friends laughing at your misfortune. Drink one or two to celebrate your fight with the shifter)
                    11) locate impact wrench, uber long extension and 18mm socket
                    12) while assistant is holding tail, unbolt trans from block.
                    13) find 15mm socket and 18mm open combo wrench to remove that one freakin' through-bolt
                    14) heave on trans until it separates from block. Discard.
                    15) finish off what’s left in cooler while deciding what to do with car still in the air and now transmissionless
                    16) lock up shop
                    17) crew crashes at friend’s place nearby
                    18) install previously purchased auto next day
                    19) call it good

We have 6 and 12 packs... occasionally you will even see bud ice light.

Might pick up some yeungling for celebration. I put the tranny back in but gotta stop from finishing only like 30-hour away from putting it on the road, but I have to work 6pm-4am...

Maybe I will finish it up after work tonight, or tomorrow morning. before my 11am-10pm shift.
