the clutch cylinder probably has a leak in it and is completely empty now. Probably will have to put a new line or slave cylinder in it. Possibly might just be empty if your lucky.

Negative...it is more than likely a bad master cylinder (clutch master obviously) or the line going from the master down to the tranny. Now if it still had pressure, but wouldn't disengage, that would liely be the slave.
GOOD NEWS: If it's the master cylinder, you or a shop wil not have to drop the tranny to fix it. It is not incredibly expensive for the part either.
Congrats on the purchase!

If it's the "rod" as your dad thinks, it is part of the afore-mentioned master cylinder, and will come with the new one
You just replace the cylinder. The rod goes through the firewall to connect to the clutch pedal, and the cylinder is compressed when you push the pedal by the rod...the creates the pressure in the system, and is sent through the line down to the slave cylinder. Then the slave actually does the work and disengages the clutch.
Remember the master/slave relationship when thinking about this. The master uts the pressure on 1st, and the slave does the work...horrible I know, but that's how they were named so many years ago.

Ya were talking about the same thing more or less. I just don't call it master and slave I hate those names. The reason I would say more line then the clutch cylinder is because it most likely is something that occured when the guy wrecked and I don't see the clutch cylinder getting hit during that wreck.

Can you see the clutch line getting dmaged in a wreck more than the master cylinder?
If you don't go by those names, you might as well call your tires steering wheels, and your brakes you can call fenders...they are known world-wide by certain names for a reason. Go to a parts store to get these parts without knowing what the names are, and they'll just stare at you funny.

oh my god guys, master and slave cylinders, thats their names, live with it. They're car parts, not people. What kind of world do we live in where the words "master" and "slave" can no longer be used even for inanimate objects without people being offended? Get Over It.
hey guys i went to Advanced Auto Parts to get a price on the master clinder and slave and they guy said $90 for the master and $80 for the slave, or maybe the other way around i dont remember.but does this seem like a good price for those? also how do i know which one to check. or shuld i just change both of them.i just got a new battery so money is real tight ( being 14 of course it is :( )
