I am stumped over this. the last few days I will need to click a link 3 or four times for it to come up. if I just click once the bottom of the page says it is connecting but nothing ever comes up most of the time. this is on every page i go to. any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it? I tried the line quality test at dslreports.com and I several other test and could not find a problem anywhere.

on a side note AIM has been acting up the last month. seems every 10-15 minuets it will disconnect itself and then reconnect. sometimes I don't ever know it disconnected until the person I have been talking to suddenly pops up the person is back message without giving me the person is gone message. any idea what is up with that?

The problem with clicking on the link 3 or 4 times could be ISP related or maybe your machine is bogged down with spyware. Try running adware and spybot. Upgrading your memory will speed it up, and you can never have too much memory.

Yea i'd download adaware www.lavasoft.com and spybot if you can play in your registry. Also get rid of weatherbug if you have it. A fair amount of things that you run on your computer could probably be disabled as well. Running MSCONFIG from the run panel, attained from clicking start -> run. And going to startup you can disable certain programs from running on the startup. A lot of programs now can just run in the background and take up resources that you don't need to run until you want it to anyways. Take quicktime for example you can turn that off because I doubt you use it avidly. Deleting your cookies and temp files can clean up as well. Also look into a mozilla browser www.mozilla.com if you don't already have one, they block most spyware that IE lets in. Hope I could help.

It sounds like it might be a DNS problem, Andrew. Try opening a "DOS" window and then type nslookup. See if you get any errors. Type in some domain names you haven't been to lately and see if they resolve to IP addresses. Does it take a long time to get a response? Does it return connection errors?

This wouldn't explain the AIM problem but it would or could explain the browser issue.

I suspect you might have connection issues resulting in packet loss, which would cause both.

Yeah. This is far from proof, but I got about 5% packet loss on a long ping-test to your IP address. Not horrible, but???
