Stupid speeding ticket

I got a freaking speeding ticket last night for 72 in a 65 last night on the way home from Denver! The jerkoff was like you know how fast you were going @ the top of that hill? I was like I don't know about 70 hes like no you were doing 68! I was like ok. Then he's like do you know how fast you were going @ the bottom of the hill? I was like 68? No you were doing 72! Then he was going to impound my car because my insurance card was expired. I about asked him what crawled up his *** but I didn't so I got a $35 speeding ticket. I don't have any points left in colorado right now so its a bad thing I currently have 31 points pending this year and I only have 9 points on a license. most of those are from 1 20 point ticket. I think the cops just like have it out for me the past few months. I have slowed down on driving and I'm getting tons of tickets for things. It just suxs.

I have never heard of getting a ticket for only 7 over. damn he must be tryign to make quota or something. I would be willing to bet the judge throws it out.

Well, Irvine PD will give tickets for 5 over if they are in a bad mood... but 7 over on the highway is pretty lame. Quota all the way

I was in a program called Carteens (im 16) to have my ticket taken off my record and there was a statie in there and i asked him about quoatas and how wherever i go a cop always follows me when im not doing anything wrong....he said that there is no such thing as a quota...that he doesnt get paid for how many tickets he writes and they're speed limit enforcement starts at 1 mph over the limit :rolleyes:

well yes and no. legally departments cant have quotas. and technically 1mph over is illegal. however that doesnt mean enforcement always starts at 1mph over. police are alowed to use discression when pulling people over. so they usually wont pull people over for just a few mph.

for example, a month or so ago i went on a ride along w/ an officer on columbus police dept, b/c i'm schedualed to take the entry exam this fall, so i rode the entire shift w/ this officer. on the way to lunch, some idiot driving in the car ahead of us blows straight through a red light right before our eyes, the cop looks over at me and said "we're on lunch, officer discression". yet later that night he pulled over someone for window tint b/c he, and i quote, "wanted to see how much spanish i actually knew". ;)

I think most of them have quotas in one way or another. It's like you can't "bribe" somebody, but you can make a "donation" or something like that. Cops can't have quotas, but they have "goals" and whatnot.

And a ticket for 1mph will never hold in court. A cop who gives a ticket for 1 mph must have a wife who just left him. Speedometers can be off by up to 5 mph from the factory, plus radars can be wrong too...

When I go visit my Navy friend in San Diego, about 98% of the MPs are huge dickheads. They get E1 and they abuse the hell out of it, just because they can.

That's a bummer getting a 72 in a 65 MPH zone.

I haven't ever had a ticket for being that close to the speed limit before.

Have you talked to a lawyer or perhaps the prosecuting attorney's office about it?

Maybe if you do some footwork before the court date, you may find that they might just throw it out or reduce the ticket to a non-moving violation?

Anything would be better than getting another speeding ticket, wouldn't it?
