'05 GTO in High Performance Pontiac

I just bought the new HPP and they tested the '05 GTO. They didnt put any 0-60 times or 1/4 mile times, but they did list mostly all of the changes from the '04 model.
-First and probably most noticable is the ram air hood(not functional) and actual dual exhaust(exits on opposite sides).
-A new rear fascia which proclaims "GTO".
-Electronic throttle control.
-A LS2 engine (6.0 liter, 364 ci) 400 hp, 400 lb. ft.
-Bigger TB, Injectors, and MAF.
-A compression ratio of 10.9:1 compared to 10.5:1.
-Also, it features two new colors: Cyclone Gray Metallic, and Midnight Blue Metallic.

Its a big improvement over the '04, but it kinda makes me mad that GM will use a lot of the Corvettes parts in the GTO. They wouldnt dare touch the F-Bodies with parts from the Z06. GM just didnt want the F-body to sell better than the 'Vette. People didnt realize that F-bodies performed just as good, if not better in some cases than the corvette. How many of you have ever seen a commercial for a Trans Am or SS Camaro? Now, How many have of you have seen a commercial for a Corvette? My point.

they dropped the LS1 in the Z28/SS ..and would probably be dropping in the LS2 if they still made f-bodies..arent they dropping the LS2 in the Camaro that they talked about revealing in 2006 - 2007? ..if they do..its mine :D

I'll def. agree that the GTO is ugly, I'll be the first to admit that GM is crap too! [img]graemlins/rock.gif[/img] But it just sucks to see a bad car get most of the same stuff as the Vette. My main point is that GM Never advertised the F-Body's, but the advertise the GTO, Vette, and Cobalt "SS"(haha) like crazy.

The simple fact is that using the same parts as the Vette versus designing new ones for the GTO saves GM a TON of money.

I wouldn't pay $35,000 for one of them... but if somebody wanted to trade me striaght up, my car for a new GTO... bye bye firebird.

some of the '04s are going for low 20s now. I dont think it's a muscle car by any means, but is definitely a nice coupe. I got to sit in one of the '05s at the DC Auto show a few weeks ago, and I have to admit that it was probably the most comfortable drivers seat I sat in the whole day. Over M3's, MB's and Audi's and all the luxury cars, it just seemed like a very nice sport luxury feel inside.

Apparently the 05 GTO out performs the 05 mustang in just about every aspect except for its exhausting shifter and body style.

But the GTO does not look bad at all, it could use a new style though something that resembles the past time. We can all hope that 2006/2007 will be good times [img]smile.gif[/img]

Athough I am not a hugh fan of the looks, if one was a left over at the end of 05/beginning of 06, I would give strong consideration to buying it.

ok, could someone explain why GM sucks? Granted the styling aint the best but the powerplants, tranny's, and such are very strong and reliable. this is something that i havent seen from ford and dodge has only achived since the merger with daimler. So i ask why does GM suck?
