Great Classic Rock Station Got Canned Today!

For as long as I can remember 93.1 here in LA/OC So.Cal area has been Arrow, a classic rock station.

Today for with no warning, I hear a Madonna song come on after a Bad Company song. Im like WTF.

Apparently "Jack Radio" a best of the 80's and 90's station is taking over.

What really pisses me off, is there was no warning, not explanation.

There a a bunch of well established stations already playing that era, its gonna be a hard time getting any market share. I hope it fails quick, so my favorite radio station will come back. Ive already sent two complaint emails.

This might force me into going XM.

that sucks man i didnt even know about this. i dont really listen to the radio much but whenever i do, the only two stations that i listen to are arrow and klos. so did this just happen today or has it been like this for a while and you just noticed it today? i tried going to the site arrowfm.com and it says jackfm well i guess its all 95.5 from now on

that sucks. we used to have like 4 rock stations here. but now theres 2 and like 10 hip hop\pop music stations. i like all music but jeez i want a fecking variety. you can literally here the same song on 3 different stations at the same time.

yeah, same thing happened here. We had a totally kickass station (97.1 The Eagle) and it got canned by motherFU%^ing Clearchannel. Now 97.1 is some old classic's station that licks it bad... Fortunately another rock station (not quite as hard though) 102.1 The Edge, is getting a little better (some more metallica, Mudvayne, Slipknot..etc) , but still plays a bunch of panzy emo crap, punk bull$hit, and Eurotrash bands...I feel your pain PewterBird!

yeah well also in dallas there was 100.3 aka wild 100 previously hot 100....
basicly they played the top 100 songs for the day.. alternative, rap/hiphop, pop...

all the sudden one day it was JACK FM..... its not a TERRIBLE station, but god, i can hadly listen to it cuz i have heard only about 1/10th the songs they play on there...

100.3, a oldie station, the only oldies station in Orlando(YOu learn that oldies stations rock, when you where headphones at work for like 5 hours at a time listening to radio, because normal stations repeat songs all the time, while oldies have decades of hits to before they start repeating.) Turned into a reggatone station. All Spanish rap. Its horrible and no one listens to it.


WORST is South Florida, the ONLY rock station, as in there was only one rock station for new and classic rock, got shut down and put up a Reggatone station there as well...

i know what you mean..theres one station that i have to listen to at work cuz my coworkers are all into rap and im the only one who is not and this station has a loop of like 10 songs...every hour, you hear the same damn songs...even our "rock stations" here suck..its all that "my girlfriend broke up with me, now theres no reason to live" crap. that is why i have stopped listening to the radio and just keep lots of cds with me. i know that i will like the music that way.

One of my favorite rock stations here in L.A was KNAC. They played the very best rock music. One day out of nowhere, I switch to the station and hear spanish music. I was like "wtf?". Oh well, at least I can still listen to the station on http://www.knac.com but I think it's time to go with a satellite radio. The few rock stations left (the 2 left) suck.

No kidding. The place I use to work, we have it tuned it to Arrow. It's a great station.

But I have to admit. They need more artist in their. They keep playing the same song over and over. I would hear the same song 3x during my 8 hour shift.

I'll definately miss that station.

Same stuff happened up here. I grew up listening to 99.1 WHFS, it was an alt-rock station. They always had hfstival every year, which was a *huge* concert with tons of mainstream bands. One day as the dj's are driving into work they suddenly no longer hear their colleagues on the radio anymore. 99.1 became El Zol, a freakin spanish station!! I think the worst part is that they didnt tell anyone and the dj's found out by turning on their radios on the way to work and suddenly hearing spanish music. It's pretty sad.
