Alright, well i just got a MP3 player for christmas. Its a SanDisk 2.0 gb sansa. I'm not completely stupid when it comes to computer, but this has me stumped.

I plugged in the USB connection that connects to the MP3 player and the computer. Went to Windows media player, went to 'sync', pressed F5 for it to look for a portable device, and it wasn't found. I've reinstalled Windows media player, that didn't do anything. I tried it out on my dads laptop and it worked, the only problem is all of my music is on the home computer.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Edit: Well, i plugged it into a USB in the back of my computer and it actually worked! But, I have another question still..

Why don't the USB ports in the front of my computer tower work?

sometimes you have to wiggle or plug it in a few times for the computer to read it. Every once in awhile my ipod doesn't connect right away and I have to wiggle it and plug it in a few times to work.

thanks, it was really frustrating. I was pissed haha. It works if i plug it in the back of the tower, but i just don't understand why the USB ports that are easily accessible in the front of the tower don't work

        Two possibilities:

They're not hooked up correctly. Try other USB devices to diagnose this one.

The front ports don't have as much power available to power an unpowered USB device. Flash memory drives are notorious for working in back, but not in front. I'm surprised an MP3 player would have an unpowered interface, but...
