well today we made our tradition visit to this house down in Nj, Where the guy completely does up his house with lights. Its like the Clark Griswald house times 10. (National lampoons christmas vacation) for those who didnt know. Its amazing, Hes got a simulated waterfall in his backyard made of lights hanging from trees. It nearly lights up the entire neighborhood. . I could only imagine what his electric bill is.

Good lord - $450? WTF are you growing reefer in your basement?
Heating my piss-poorly-insulated 105 year old home to 65 degrees when it's -10 degrees outside for a week out of the month cost me $158... and that was with the recent natural gas price hike...
There's this guy in town who owns a house and a lot on a cul de sac with only one other house, and he pretty much decorates the entire street, 50 foot artifical tree covered in lights and all. His electric bill for the month is supposed to be around $3,000, and we're on municipal electric that's cheap in comparison to the rest of the state.

Where at in NJ? I may know who you are talking about? Does he have like hundreds of cartoon wood signs in his yard? The house I am talking about is in South Jersey.

A few times? 36 hours a day every day is a few?
We have a 2 12,000BTU Window ACs and a 5,500 BTU A/C, and in the summer while we're home both of the big ones run on and off throughout the day, and the small one runs all night, and my electric bill has never been more than $90.

You got spendy electricity down there :D </font>
I don't know the BTUs, but its a 1 ton window unit. Keep in mind we also have central heat and air. The central unit was running almost 24/7 this year because it was like 99* almost every day. The window unit was on probably on 6 hours every day.
The month in question, it probably got left on maybe 7 days. That thing sucks power like its going out of style. If we didnt use it, the bill would only be about 250/month. Of course it doesn't help that our house insulation sucks ***.
