What brand laptop is this? And you can put in a Xircom card to test theory of if it's the router or internal NIC. I have money on the internal NIC.

And yeah.. nikon brings up a good point. The firmware can cause issues too. That is a quick (cheap) fix to try.

er, kk, did some work, its my NIC. You are right. I figured out that all the other pcs in the house are running 100BaseTx on the WinXP Pro just like I am. The routers fine and all the cables are fine. Its a Hypersonic NX6. They don't make it anymore :[ ba$tards. But they did replace the mobo for free and it did work for a little while. I'm just fustrated that this isn't work. I can usually fix these sort of problems on my own. Uhm, i dont know what your talking about when you say Xircom. What do you mean? something i can go buy at Compusa?

btw i'm still trying to upgrade the firmware, its refusing to work right now.[EDIT] yeah, just did that, didn't do a thing to help my situation, but thanks for all ya'lls help so far :D

Xircom is a brand NIC for laptops... http://www.intel.com/network/connect...rrbe100btx.htm

I've always used them in laptops with no problems.
