Oh, and for comparison. If you want something else thats RWD and "sporty", there is the $38K 350Z, or the $38K G35, or the $33K RX-8. The GT's around here were selling for $35K and the Vert's were selling for $40K!!! :eek:

    Sooo, why aren't people pissed off at these companies?
    Actually here is a good question... why did you buy a GTO over all these "cool FWD auto land yachts"

      Actually here is a good question... why did you buy a GTO over all these "cool FWD auto land yachts" </font>
Because I didn't want FWD, and my only choices of affordable sports cars were what I listed above. So GM had the answer, and they did it cheaper then all those other companies. Yet everyone is *****ing at GM for screwing up and not having a low cost fbody typish car. Well what company does?

      And I know why I paid less because they sold like crap, because people heard, ooooh wow, GTO, and once again, expected larger than life. So people were disapointed when the GTO turned out to be exactly the same thing it was in the past, except better quality. But it doesn't change the fact even the MSRP was still cheaper than your alternative options before the discount.

      And the argument im trying to make is, all those cars listed that people are pissed off about, are exactly what they were years ago, and people expect them to be aggresive sporty power houses when they weren't really all that in the first place.

For the longest time I thought all the cobalt SS's were packing a supercharger, goes to show how GM is cheapening the SS badge.

        Wach out, an Aveo SS will probably be next!
         ...First couple years of Cobalt SS are purely supercharged cars.... 2.4 Ecotec isn't out yet, atleast to my knowledge, in the Cobalt platform.....

          </font>
I could give a rats *** about other companies.. only reason why fords are selling so high is because they cannot build enough of them so it inflates the price.

          Reason why they are selling so high is their is nothing in the class to compete with.

          Reason why your GTOs are selling less then $35k, is because they were selling like ***, and they needed to move inventory, same reason why they did the "employee pricing" then extended it over and over.
          </font>
Do you know what employee pricing is? It's this years way to say we're having a "Previous model-year new car sale..", but it sounds MUCH better ... Dealers have to move old/2005 inventory to make room for 2006s, which means here come the discounts on 2005s that haven't sold.. The only reason they are extending the "employee pricing plan" is because it worked, REAL well..

            Anyways, GM line up is not catching my eyes, besides the vette, other than that I migh have to hop on the other side and buy a Mustang GT whick i was quoted for $25 base GT (Deluxe)+ additional opitons (or even maybe a used 05 GTO, if i can find one under 30 grand lol)

            Im not complaning its just we are not bound to one company to make your own dream car or at least try to.

As far as speed is concerned, one has run 13.9@102 and another has run a 14.0@97-98 in 90 degree air. The WORST track time from a GXP is 14.4@97. GXP's are more performance orientated the the Monte and Impala, and is most likely a little quicker. Some differences are lightweight forged rims, 255's in the front, and better brakes/suspension.

              I know the sky is coming out but its not my cup of tea, I don't want a 2 seater convertable roadster.

              &lt;OT&gt; I was watching Top Gear yesterday, and they did a road test of the european version of the sky *drool* that car is friggen amazing&lt;/OT&gt;

                exactly... I know there is inflation but not a few thousand in the last 3-5 years.

                  gm's not doing that bad. sure, their cars aren't as cool as they used to be, but when you need a 4 door sedan with some pep to it, who do you turn to? gm isn't so much into cool cars anymore, besides the gto and vette. even the gto though, man, what did they do? sure, its really fast, which is definately awesome, but put it next to a gtp with a nice paint job, and its the same thing. back in the day, gto's were hot cars...now, if someone gave me a new one, the first thing i'd do would be to sell it. do i think gm is making the same or better quality cars today that they have always made...yes. but now, they have a coolness factor of like, idk, 4 out of 10, where it used to be an 8 back in the muscle car days. not saying the cars are not as good...just not as cool (excluding the vette, cuz that car is forever hotness).
                  i\'m not an ambiturner.

Better quality = more money. Figure about 2k in inlfation over the years, then add in the extra cost of materials, you're looking at $28-30K.

I don't have to have a top of the line hence why I have been content owning v6s.

                      I would rather have something in my pricerange that is fun to drive they have done it in the past, and now Ford is doing it just fine, so well they can have a mark up because they cannot keep them on the lots.

                        Yanno for not being that quick you guys sure praise the RWD concept that FWD sucks and yadda yadda. Granted the Impala is fugly, but I personally think that the MC is probably the best looking from GM in a while. Now the '06 Impala and MC are pretty much twins and I am really not keen on them. The F-bodys were good looking though. But for saying FWD is boring and all this other crap beat 10.036 @ 143 and then say its boring.
