• Has your V6 F-car given you a rep or inspired you to be a mechanic

If you ask me to pull and install an engine or change tranny (I can do it on my truck) or pull and change out the gears, I wouldn't be able to do it.

For the past years since I've own my bird, a lot of my family members have been calling me to come and see what's wrong with their cars and 90% of the time I get it right. I've changed some of their water pump, belts, plugs, brakes and all other minor things and saved them hundreds of dollars.

At work, some people ask me what mods I would recommend for their cars, mostly civics.

It's cool though. If it wasn't for my Firebirds, I probably wouldn't know squat about cars. I be like a dummy who would pay someone for an oil change.

He has to be there whenever i do something. Good in a way cause i learn something new every time. Aughta be fun putting cat back on my car with em. And i cant see me and him puttin racing stripes on either.

Well...lets see. Yes, at school, it has gotten me the rep of having the nice car at school. A kid my age got a '03 Rustang, and bragged all to hell about it. I told him to hit the highway cause he aint got **** on me. I ended up racing him in my moms truck and winning (2000 Silverado...5.3L Vortec).

And as for being a mechanic. Its in my blood, but i dont want to be one. My dad is a automotive painter of over 20 years. Hes painted showcars and **** that have won national contests. Im gonna have him repaint the 'Maro a very pearly Candy Apple Red Theres good money in it...i know that.

maybe, if it wasn't for my last mod, the shift kit. evidently the clutch packs were going bad before I put it in and now everybody in my family thinks I am the one that destroyed the tranny.

I was an aprentice mechanic at a toyota dealership in high school. I really liked the work, but it got old.

I do all of my own work. I only pay mechanics to mount tires on rims, or align the suspension.

I even built the motor that is in my camaro right now.

No one really asks me to help with thier cars. I have a reputation as a crazy hot rodder. All of my roomates take thier cars to jiffy lube for oil changes. THey are deathly afraid that I will "tweak" something and make thier car less reliable.

has getting this car given me a rep?
at school:
yes. random people ask me all kinds of questions about cars, their cars, mods, etc. and i'm almost always able to help them. a hot girl at school told me i had the nicest car in the parking lot. out of ~750 cars, i'd say that's a damn nice compliment. i figured she was just being nice at first, but she kept going on about it and then another person agreed with her.
at home:
yes. my parents seem to have a little more respect for me and my newfound car obsession now that i pay for everything. i paid for most of the car, the insurance, the gas, maintainance, etc.
between friends:
yes. i get a lot of questions about cars and mechanical issues from my friends. they seem to come to me before anyone else.

has my car inspired me to become a mechanic?
no, i had that inspiration before i owned the car.
i've been getting into bigger projects on my car... it started with cleaning in interior and exterior... then cleaning parts... then cleaning the engine... then working on the engine. i've learned so much about cars since buying my firebird, it's insane.
