Exactly. My opinion really doesn't matter in all of this for that simple reason stated above, but that won't stop me from saying what I have to say.

As much as I believe that life should be enjoyed, it must be done on three levels, physically, mentally, and socially. If that kid were to be born without a family, in some orphanage, or hopping from foster home to foster home, what kind of life is that?

I think abortion should be used, there are just too many instances where it can be better all around.

When I sit at a pro-life meeting it's mostly women. I would say 80% of them are. A lot of them too are those who had an abortion themselves and wish they never did.

Norma McCorvey the woman known as Roe in Roe vs. Wade. The plantiff that started this whole Roe vs. Wade happens to be one of the organizer for the Priest for Life movement and pro-life. She used to be pro-abortion now she is pro-life.

She's also the one that has been aggressively attacking this partial birth abortion when Clinton made it OK in the '90's. She hasn't gotten much media attention, not since Roe vs. Wade.

I don't agree with abortion, but I tend to agree with you that it should be allowed in extrodinary cases like the ones you point out. Good call.

Why should it be a womans right to choose if the baby can already live outside of her? I dont understand at all how that cant be considered a life. If it can live outside i dont beleive it should not be allowed to be aborted. I can understand first trimester abortion (not for it but i can understand) because it cant survive outside the mother.

It takes two people to make a baby, but only one has the say in life and death??? Maybe fathers shouldn't have to pay child support because they didn't want the baby??

As for the "choice" aspect, she made a choice, probably several, that led to her getting pregnant. As the old saying goes, you made your bed, now sleep in it. There is a little thing called adoption.

I do agree with vanbibber, abortion should be considered in cases where it could endanger the mother.

I agree it should be a decision made between a woman and a doctor.

I also think that waiting for so long in the labor process is cruel.

In almost all cases, you should be able to tell that your pregnant within 3 months. Thats when it should be taken care of. However, you need to be careful from day one. I am not opposed to first tri-mester abortions when they are needed, unless its used only as a form of birth-control. If there is danger to the mother, or rape, or anticipated problems with baby, or a severe OOOPS when all the preliminary precautions were taken and bringing the child into the world is an irresponsible choice then I will support it.

regardless of rape or life threatening i do not think abortion is right. someone rapes you and you have a human life form. either way you are killing a human being that could have been someones, even in adoption, little girl or boy.

id rather have a crappy life than be dead. mostly people that have crappy lives is because they put themselves in that situation. to say anyone born or unborn deserves to die is wrong.

i know some people whos wifes had that same situation with the birth being life threatening. its God's choice who dies, not ours. i dont know how many believe in God, or will be like "get God out of this!" but...

IN no way do i support killing someone. a bum on the street, does he deserve to die? not your call even if your his or her mother!

i think its a question about when you feel life begins. all these arguments about the woman having control over her own body kind of make me sad. its true women have control over their own bodies, but a baby isn't exactly part of a woman per say, its moreso a dependant but separate organism. personally, i feel life begins at the point where the first cell (that of the future child) is manifested. That cell may be dependant on the mother, but its still a cell with entirely different DNA from the mother. I don't understand why a baby inside and completely dependant on a mother is considered just another extension of the mother's body. as far as the moral arguments are concerned, i don't think a person can judge, based on the parents, who is worthy of being born and who merits abortion. i don't consider my life to be completely decided by the status of my parents, neither do i consider anybody's life more valuable then another's.

Does anyone have any links to true stories of people who were born as a result of their mother being raped?

I used to be pro-choice, until I saw a video of how they performed the operation. Now, I only agree with it, if there is a tubal ligation scare.

But, just because I don't agree with it, doesn't mean I'm going to try and impart my beliefs on the women that do.

in most debates, i'm the same way. i defend my position, but don't need the other person to think exactly the same way as i do. but i find this case to be unique, b/c it deals with unborn babies. abortions end the lives of unborn babies. i suppose if you do not agree with when life begins, you could say abortions end a potential human life. this is serious. i honestly do not feel that my mother should have had the option of killing me while i was defenseless.
