For those people who said to get WRX, 1st WRX and EVO are in different class, 2nd if i were to spend 30k+ on a car it would not be a 4door sedan AWD, I would rather get a RWD car like 350Z or something, but for a little over 20k for SRT-4 what else can u compete with, Cobalt = slow, Redline = Slow, Tiburon =slow!

So please let me know if there is anything faster ther for 20k other than SRT-4. Best bang for the money if u ask me.

I personally don't like neons, I think they are disposable, but I don't consider the SRT-4 to be in the same catergory at all.

The engine is FAR superior to any other neon, it it built strong for boost. Everything on the car is better than a regular neon.

It is a very quick car, especially for a 4 cylinder. It is very upgradable also, as mentioned.

The only thing holding me back is the looks. The only thing I like is the intercooler on the front.

I say buy it if you like it. I know a few LS1 and Lt1 guys who have bought them and love them.
Yes, everything is better, like when you get the power windows option, the rear ones are still manual cranks...

FWD cars are nice until yu get into massive power and you experiance torque steer.

        Not fun.

        sc3800 owners know about this.

I mean, when they make the car with the best frame, engine, transmission, and suspension on the planet and sell it for $20k, they have to skimp somewhere....

i drove one with a stage two, yes it was a fun car to drive, you can chirp the tires going into second gear, cool gauge cluster, shifter is alright but it dodnt feel really strong, had alittle torque stear and the seats werenot to my liking. remeber, if dodge spent the money under the hood, then what about the other stuff i.e. ac, radio, etc

it is still a neon no matter what you do to it, just like a SI is still a civic no matter what you do to it.

it would make for a *****en daily driver and have a LS1 for play. it is a tough choice, yes the insurance will be less but in acouple years, the car isnt worth jack

buy the car that you want, that best suits your needs and will do what you want it to do. yes the views on this board are slanted towards the camaro, take all the post with a grain of salt and let use know how it turns out.

Hey, smart guy. Make this same argument over at LS1tech. I can tell you two things that will happen.

First, you will be laughed at.

Second, everytime you type in SRT-4, LS1tech's infrastructure will change that to NeonNeonNeon.

Case closed. If you're looking for balls to the wall power, don't get an SRT-4, because you'll be craving for much, much more.
              </font>
Who said anything about balls to the walls power? If you want a reliable economical car that can be driven on a DAILY basis and run with a LT1 4th gen, then yes -- an SRT-4 is it. Why do you think every nationally known critic is calling it the "Best Bang for your Buck" ??

And I agree with the other guy, if LS1Tech doesn't like it it must be bad eh? If LS1Tech all started driving 3 cylinder Geo Metros, would you think they were cool?

Mom has an 03 WRX 5 speed.
I ditched the air silencer, made a sheet metal block off plate and a rigged cold air kit.

I do NOT like that car ONE BIT!

                TOO damn notchy!

KBeezy I think the point that you are missing is IT IS A NEON. And you failed to read that he's modding it. HELLO. Reliability is not a factor him, he did not mention it. He stated he wanted a 350HP+ car. Once again, read before you type. Oh, and every national known critic says a Honda Civic is a reliable car. Don't dare group me with anyone.

A NEON SRT4 does not have much room for improvement. Read the specs and you'll realize this. SRT4's do NOT like extensive modding.

Case. Point. Match. [Notice, that link is on a NEON domain. Gosh this is too easy.]

Don't worry, James, your Neon is still sexy. I just can't consider it a racecar. :D

I've got a video of an LS1 blowing up on a dyno... does that mean LS1's dont have room for improvement?

I don't see an SRT4 pushing over 600hp perfectly. Lemme know when you find one. Thanks. :D

Whole reason why I'm arguing this is the fact that it is a NEON. Dodge even stated it was a NEON. Only point I'm putting across. You people are too thick-headed to realize this.

I'm sick of people arguing that these aren't Neons. It's like arguing a Trans Am is not part of the Firebird platform. Wake up people.

I'm done arguing with you Neon supporters. Grab a lane.

i dont see people saying its not a neon, i just see people saying that the quality of the parts used in it is better than that of a base neon

All that is fine and dandy....but remember, the car is still a NEON. Personally, im about looks, more than speed. If i wanted speed, i would have bought a 5.0 Rustang for dirt cheap.

also think about crashing. I hate newercars as they are mentto fold up at 35 MPH. sure ya got insurance but still. I can put a V8 in a pirngles can and itwill be fast, but how safe do you feel going that fast.

Thats the problem I had/had with mustangs. to small and light with lots of power.

I perfer 4000lb tanks with 8 cylinders that I can drive through a house. litteraly.
